| As an emerging mode of transportation,high-speed rail has become a "bright business card" representing China’s image.Throughout the literature,although many scholars have explored the impact of high-speed rail construction and opening from various perspectives,there are few academic achievements on the macro-level research on the impact of China’s high-speed rail opening on provincial green total factor productivity.Therefore,under the background that China’s economy has entered a stage of high-quality development,green total factor productivity is an important indicator to measure the quality of an economy’s economic development.Studying the impact of the opening of high-speed rail on green total factor productivity is of great significance to promoting the sustainable development of China’s economy.important real value.This paper uses the 2003-2017 Chinese provincial panel data as the research sample,and uses the DEA-based DDF-ML index model to measure the green total factor productivity and its decomposition items of green technology progress and green technology efficiency in 30 provinces and cities in Chinese mainland(except Tibet).;regard the opening of the high-speed rail as a "quasi-natural experiment",and use the multi-period double-difference method to evaluate the impact of the opening of the high-speed rail on China’s provincial green total factor productivity.The study found:(1)During the sample period,the overall growth of China’s green total factor productivity,the main source of growth came from the improvement of green technology progress,but the overall deterioration of green technology efficiency;(2)The opening of high-speed rail has improved China’s green total factor productivity.It has a significant promoting effect,and has different effects on green technology progress and green technology efficiency.Among them,it has a significant positive impact on green technology progress,and has no significant impact on green technology efficiency;(3)The opening of high-speed rail has a significant impact on China’s green total factor productivity.There is obvious hysteresis effect;(4)There is regional heterogeneity in the impact of the opening of high-speed rail on the provincial green total factor productivity.Among them,the opening of high-speed rail has a significant role in promoting the growth of green total factor productivity in the eastern region,but the impact on the central and western regions is not significant.Based on this,this paper puts forward the following suggestions:(1)Starting from improving the efficiency of green technology,prevent it from further deterioration and have a negative impact on the growth of green total factor productivity.(2)The government should increase its support for the construction of high-speed railways in the central and western regions,improve the spatial pattern of the railway network,and build a relatively balanced comprehensive transportation system in each region;(4)Formulate differentiated policies and incentive measures for different regions to promote coordinated regional development,thereby enhancing the growth of green total factor productivity. |
