Impact Of High-speed Railway On Regional Tourism Development And Its Heterogeneity

In recent years,with the rapid development of high-speed railway in China,the number of open cities and high-speed railway lines is increasing year by year.High-speed railway has become one of the most important means of transportation for contemporary travelers.In the new era,China’s economy is developing with high quality,residents’ income is gradually increasing,tourism demand is constantly expanding,tourism is developing rapidly,and tourism has become an indispensable activity of contemporary human beings.In the context of the rapid development of both high-speed railway and tourism in China,tourism development and high-speed railway are inseparable,and high-speed railway has become one of the key factors affecting the development of regional tourism.So how will high-speed rail affect regional tourism? What impact will it have on regional tourism? Is the effect significant? Is there heterogeneity in the impact on different regions? What is the cause of heterogeneity? Analysis of these problems has guiding significance for the rapid development of high-speed railway and regional tourism,so this paper takes Yunnan,Guizhou and Sichuan region as the research object to conduct in-depth research and analysis.This paper firstly sorts out the background,significance and relevant literature of the research question,and further analyzes the influence mechanism of high-speed rail on regional tourism development.Secondly,based on Yunnan,Guizhou and Sichuan area in 46 states and panel data,using GIS methods to analyze Yunnan,Guizhou and Sichuan regional tourism development present situation and the space-time evolution characteristics,and discussed the high-speed impact on regional tourism development and its heterogeneity,at the same time the PSM-DID model empirical high-speed rail net effect of the impact of regional tourism development.Finally,different provinces,provincial capitals and famous tourist cities are compared with other cities,autonomous prefectures and different time periods,respectively,to explore the heterogeneity of impacts of high-speed railway on tourism development in different regions and different time periods,and analyze the causes of heterogeneity in detail.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)The opening of high-speed rail has significantly promoted the development of Yunnan-Guizhou-Sichuan regional tourism.The opening of the high-speed railway has promoted the increase of about27.25% of the total tourism revenue and about 20.63% of the total number of tourists in Yunnan-Guizhou-Sichuan region.(2)The heterogeneity of the impact of the opening of high-speed rail on tourism development in different regions is significant:First,the opening of high-speed rail has the strongest promoting effect on tourism development in Guizhou Province,followed by Sichuan Province and finally Yunnan Province.The opening of high-speed rail has the greatest impact on tourism development in autonomous prefectures of Guizhou Province,followed by Yunnan Province and finally Sichuan Province.Second,the opening of high-speed rail has promoted the gathering of tourism in provincial capital cities and famous tourist cities in the province.With the increase of high-speed rail opening cities and high-speed rail lines,the impact of high-speed rail on the development of tourism in the region has generally increased with time.Third,the foundation of tourism development level is poor,the higher the development level of high-speed rail and the earlier the opening time of high-speed rail in major tourist cities,the greater the role of high-speed rail in promoting tourism development in this region;Fourth,the intensity of tourism resources in the region,the scale of local tourism market,the level of humanistic quality and other factors lead to the small heterogeneous effect of high-speed rail on the development level of tourism in different regions.(3)The main reasons why the opening of high-speed railway affects the heterogeneity of regional tourism development are as follows: First,tourism cities have different subjective intentions to develop tourism,mainly including measures such as policy inclination,basic implementation improvement of traffic conditions,creation and publicity of scenic spots and tourism innovation;Second,the objective tourism inequality in tourist cities leads to different tourism development.The main reasons are the different foundation of the original regional tourism development level,the different development degree of high-speed rail in different regions,the different opening time of high-speed rail in provincial capitals and famous tourist cities,and the different endowment of tourism resources.Based on the above main conclusions,finally,some suggestions are put forward,such as regional tourism competition,tourism innovation and tourism service improvement,increasing the number of high-speed rail cities and speeding up the development of regional expressways.
