A Research On Privacy-Preserving UBI Scheme Based On Witness-Verifiability

Abstract/Summary:
With the emergence and development of smart electric vehicles,the face of the vehicle insurance industry is changing.Usage-Based Insurance(UBI)-Usage-based insurance.Unlike traditional vehicle insurance,UBI vehicle premium is computed based on vehicle driving data as the witness,making individual vehicle premiums more economical and accurate and promoting the standardization of vehicle driving.However,due to the characteristics of UBI premium computation,there are many problems in existing UBI schemes,such as vehicle data privacy,the verifiability of premium computation,the verifiability of vehicle data sources(verifiability of witness),and the public verifiability of transactions.For existing problems,this thesis proposes a privacy protection scheme for UBI based on zero-knowledge proof with verifiability,with the following specific work:(1)This thesis first present the model and formal definition of the scheme for the security and functional requirements of UBI scenario.Then the zero-knowledge proof method with authentication is used to construct the scheme in detail.(2)Regarding privacy protection,based on the idea that the vehicle premium is computed locally by the vehicle,the zero-knowledge proof system satisfies the two crucial privacy and security properties of vehicle data privacy and the verifiability of premium computation.(3)In terms of the verifiability of vehicle data sources,this thesis combines aggregate signatures with the zero-knowledge proof system to solve the verifiability problem of vehicle data sources.This method can ensure the authenticity of the vehicle data source and improve the performance of the signature and verification algorithm.(4)In terms of public verifiability of transactions,this thesis uses blockchain technology to realize it,which not only solves the problem that the transaction process is not public and untraceable but also the smart contract will replace the insurance company to verify the premium and the proof of computing the premium,improving the efficiency of the verification of the transaction process.(5)In terms of proof generation performance,Groth16 is used in this thesis as the basis of the zero-knowledge proof method of this scheme.Compared with other zero-knowledge proof methods,Groth16 has the characteristics of high proof efficiency and a small number of generated proofs.Groth16 can ensure the privacy of vehicle data and the verifiability of premium computation.Groth16 computation cost of the scheme in the proof generation and verification stage is more suitable for the UBI scenario.Finally,this thesis uses ZoKrates and the Remix platform to simulate the algorithm or protocol of this scheme.In summary,the analysis results show that this thesis meets more security requirements with a reasonable time and communication cost and solves the problems of vehicle data privacy,verifiability of premium computation,the verifiability of vehicle data sources,and public verifiability of transactions are familiar in UBI scenarios.Therefore,the proposed scheme provides a better trade-off between security and performance in the UBI scenario,which has particular practical application significance.
