| This study examines the factors influencing SMEs’ adoption of e-commerce in Tanzania taking the case of selected SMEs in Dar es Salaam. The study specifically looks at what extent SMEs’ financial, technical, and legal factors affect the SMEs’ adoption of e-commerce.The study chose 16 SMEs in the Dar es Salaam region as the study case.It employed a descriptive research approach with 200 respondents from sixteen SMEs,as the study’s sample. The researcher used both random and purposeful sampling since the chosen respondents had the necessary expertise and information to respond to the study’s research questions. The data was gathered and then analyzed both subjectively and statistically using SPSS.The researcher determined that the adoption of E-Commerce by SMEs is directly affected by the three parameters examined: SMEs’ financial, technical, and legal factors. The results show that the shoestring budget, acquisition costs, maintenance costs, internet costs, and cheap products from online are the primary obstacles to the business’ s financial health. The study also reveals difficulties with internet speed, privacy protection, power outages, and technical support from technical factors. And also, the legal factors included government support, online tax, intellectual property, and cybercrime. The study recommends that organizations need to consider these three factors very carefully and where possible, effective strategies need to be developed to overcome the challenges facing them. The study goes on to advise firms to have a sufficient budget and qualified personnel to successfully overcome challenges. And also, provided appropriate recommendations to the government on supporting SMEs in the adoption of E-Commerce.Finally,suggests further research based on the limitations of the study. |
