The Innovative Practice Of Rural Images In The Era Of Short Video

With the development of media technology,social media is constantly updated,and the social interaction behind it is also reshaped by the emergence and development of new media.At present,short video has become a social media with full-scene penetration and multiple categories.Along with the continuous development of short video,various platforms and creators rely on it to explore the value of higher dimensional meaning in addition to the dissemination of content.Rural images,too,are coming to life on the track of short video,shaping the countryside’s unique exhibition stage.“Looking from the grassroots level,Chinese society is vernacular.” Today’s social form is built on the vernacular society,while the countryside is the bearer of the vernacular,and it is only with the change of times and social development that the city slowly emerges.The Chinese culture of tracing the origin and roots is also a constant reminder to the public: local culture cannot be lost and local memory cannot be lost.The emergence of short videos has triggered the expression of “universal recording”,and the narrative space has been continuously expanded.The rural images that have emerged are also writing rural memories,conveying a diversified rural image,and building a positive rural ecology.The core of rural images contains truth and emotion,but the way of expression needs to break the perspective of “other” and avoid the“over-glorification” caused by viewing.At a time when rural images in the field and documentary categories are competing for the dissemination track,director Xiao Ce’s“Square Past” and “Infernal Square”(hereinafter referred to as the “Square” series)provide a new perspective for the creation and dissemination of rural images.“Rural elderly people making movies”,“rural scenes applying classic IP”,“theatrical absurd plot”,“magic and novelty square universe ” These together form the creative label of director Xiao Ce.Based on the theory of image narrative,this paper uses textual analysis to dismantle and elaborate on the images of director Xiao Ce.This paper analyzes director Xiao Ce’s innovative practice in rural video creation,takes the content creation and dissemination analysis of the “Square” series as the entry point,explores the reasons why the series of videos “broke the circle” and attracted a lot of attention,and introduces the perspective of active aging to discuss the significance of humanistic values behind rural videos.The director Xiao Ce gives an answer to the question of how to make a strong development in the short video track,show the real and diversified rural ecology,break the traditional thinking of rural video creation,and dissolve the influence of urban stereotypes of rural areas.
