| As social animals, human beings are constantly in social contact with others.Internet technology,as a mediator of human relationships, has shortened the spatial distance between people, but the distance between people’s hearts seems to be getting more and more distant,as Turkel asks in Alone Together,"Why do people expect more from technology, but not more intimate with each other?" The boom in technology has improved human living standards without making individuals feel happier. This paper uses the "human-technology" relationship revealed in the phenomenology of technology by Don Ihde as a framework for analysis, combined with actual research on young users,to suggest that Alone Together is a necessary stage in the evolution and mutual shaping of the relationship between people and people and people and the world by the development of media technology. This paper uses participant observation and semi-participant observation as well as a series of studies of young people.Using participant observation and semi-structured interviews, this paper first summarises four realistic representations of Alone Together through interviews with young social media users and relevant literature interviews, and then argues for its coupling with Ihde’s "human-technology" relationship. The underlying logic of Alone Together is analysed in the embodiment relations, hermeneutic relations, alterity relations and background relations. In the embodiment relations between youth groups and social media, the media artefacts represented by microblogs embody users, and three states of Alone Together emerge, namely, algorithmically domesticated aversion to conversation, consumption of the landscape society and the gaze of the invisible world, while the embodied nature of media technology also becomes a precondition and key factor in causing Alone Together. In the hermeneutic relations, there is also a kind of "performance technology" that uses symbols as a carrier, and the reason why there is a discrepancy in the sense of reality is because individuals think that the interaction is with the real other, but in fact it is only the other presented by the technology, and people’s interpretation of others and the world depends on the result of the technology presentation;in the alterity relations,on the one hand, the author analyses In the alterity relations,I analyse how the game character in the handheld game Honor of Kings is identified by the player as a "quasiother",and on the other hand,I examine how the game character as a "quasi-other" interacts with the player and the impact it has on the lonely individual player;in the background relations,in the face of the unavoidable media phenomenon of Alone Together and its propagation laws, the ethical design of social media objects is proposed from the perspective of technology ethics to resolve Alone Together: the vision of facilitating sincere communication and democratic dialogue is written into the algorithm, interactive interface and technical content;user participation and constructive technical evaluation are enhanced in the design process of media products; At the same time, the problems and possible negative effects of the use of social media products should be addressed, and public discussions on solitary issues should be held in order to raise users’ awareness and literacy on the rational and healthy use of media. |
