Power amplifier(PA)is an indispensable component in wireless communication systems.This thesis researches the theory of class E/F PA and finds that the theory and design method of class E/F PA have following deficiencies:(1)Most class E/F PA designs are based on circuit topology,and there is no relevant research from the perspective of waveform analysis;(2)Using the existing class E/F PA design theory cannot achieve broadband design,and there is a lack of broadband design methods for class E/F PA;(3)The traditional factorial factor broadwidth expansion method cannot be used to expand the continuous class E/F PA operating mode,and cannot complete the broadband design for class E/F PA.In addition,the application design and wideband design of class E/F PA in Doherty PA(DPA)have not been found.This thesis researches on the above issues.Firstly,the design theory of class E/F PA based on waveform analysis is proposed,which lays the theoretical foundation for harmonic tuned(HT)design;Secondly,the problem that traditional factorial factor is not suitable for class E/F PA is studied,and corresponding modified factorial factor is proposed to solve the theoretical problem of broadband design for class E/F PA,opening up the analytical path for continuous class E/F PA design;Finally,the application of class E/F PA to DPA and the corresponding broadband design problems are studied.The specific contents of the thesis are as follows:1.Theoretical research on class E/F PA based on waveform analysis.The difficulties of combining traditional class E/F PA design theory with waveform analysis methods are analyzed,and a new waveform design theory with pure reactance form output impedance is proposed.The derived waveforms strictly follow the characteristics of class E/F PA theoretical waveforms.As a verification,based on this theory,a class E/F PA is designed by simulation and fabricated.The physical test shows that the power-added efficiency(PAE)is 71.2%,and the drain efficiency(DE)is 74%.2.Theoretical analysis and design research of broadband class E/F PA.After in-depth analysis of the issue of whether factorial factor can be used to expand the bandwidth of class E/F PA,it is found that traditional factorial factor cannot expand the bandwidth of class E/F PA while maintaining the same efficiency.In response to this discovery,a new modified factorial factor has been proposed,which provides an effective method and approach for the theoretical derivation and design of broadband class E/F PA.As a verification,simulation design and actual measurement based on this theory are carried out.The measured results show that the drain efficiency is 67.6%~73.7%in the 1.8-3.2GHz bandwidth.3.Research on the theory and design of broadband DPA based on class E/F PA.On the basis of the above work,an improved DPA architecture is studied,using a new continuous class E/F PA as carrier power amplifier and continuous class C-HT3 PA as peak power amplifier.The broadband design of the DPA is realized.As a verification,a DPA is designed and fabricated through simulation.The measured results show that the drain efficiency is 64.3%~76.8%in saturated state within 1.8-3.2 GHz bandwidth.The research work in this thesis has certain reference value for the theoretical research and engineering application design of RF power amplifiers.
