As a third-generation exponent of symbolic interactionism,Erving Goffman’s ’Social Dramatic Theory’ explores how people use symbols to create the images desired by others in order to achieve the desired effect. The Plog creator’s documentation of everyday life is supplemented by textual annotations and a series of graffiti embellishments to better convey information that the original image cannot,in order to satisfy the creator’s quest for refinement and These creators’ self-representation behaviour on social media platforms is unique and has high research value. This paper focuses on Plog creators in microblogs, and uses participant observation and in-depth interview methods to conduct the research. The paper first explains the phenomenon of the combination of Goffman’s self-presentation research and Internet socialization, raises the issue of the increasingly obvious and widespread use of self-presentation in online socialization, summarizes and proposes to reveal the creative psychology and self-presentation behaviour of Plog creators, and explains this issue in the context of Goffman’s theoretical research. The first chapter introduces the media representation of Plog as a form of self-representation and its development on social platforms;secondly, the second chapter aims to explore the motivations of Plog creators’ self-representation and analyses the psychology of the creators’ group;thirdly, using the "encoding-decoding" theory The third chapter discusses the process of self-representation and impression management by creators, and details how Plog creators use various techniques to optimise impression management;in the fourth chapter, the difficulties that creators’ self-representation will face, such as the intrusion of privacy in the background, are discussed, and the development trend of self-representation is explored;finally, the fifth chapter provides a rational consideration and dialectical analysis of Plog creators’ self-representation behaviour. Finally,Chapter 5 will provide a rational and dialectical analysis of Plog creators’ self-representation behaviour, which will reveal both the positive and the alienating aspects of it in light of reality. The application of ’Social Dramatic Theory’ has gradually expanded from the behavioural level of everyday life to the new social environment of the new media environment, and the concept is constantly evolving. An analysis of the performance behaviour of Plog creators on social media in the context of this theory shows that posting a Plog on social media is a performance by the creator to an imagined audience,an idealised self-presentation based on the need for impression management. While social media has increased the convenience and freedom of self-representation,it is also worth considering how to maintain the ability to think independently in the aesthetic context of symbolic projection, and how to make use of the social role of social media so that people do not fall into a solitary orgy.
