A Dramatic Study Of Documentary Television Programs

Among current TV programs in China,documentary TV program is an important existence style which covers a wide range of contents as well as is equipped with diversified creation methods and significant cultural meaning.Documentary TV program is both an example for recording the reality and an objective existence for dramatic writing.As for the documentary concept from the early documentaries,due to process of columns of TV programs,there is a further integration between the documentary strategy in documentaries and the TV programs;besides,in order to meet the increasingly viewing needs of the audience,and through value exploration of high quality of TV programs,the documentary programs take an appropriate strategy of dramatic structure and become an inevitable development orientation of the programs.Since the 21 st Century,there is a fierce competition in various TV programs in China,such as collisions between broad selections of contents and real narrative expression,between ancient and modern legends and current anecdotes,as well as between audio & visual model advancing with times and the deep-rooted stage design,etc.,and during this period,the dramatic creation concept promotes China's TV programs to shine in the world stage.However,a large number of researchers only pay attention to the inherent documentary nature of the documentary programs,and neglect the theoretical conflict reconciliation between the dramatic nature and the documentary nature;therefore,this provides us with not only a unique research perspective but also a significant research object.In this paper,the topic “Research on Dramatic Structure of Documentary TV Programs”includes: concept definition,dramatic narrative,dramatic situation,dramatic modeling and dramatic aesthetic appreciation,total five aspects.This paper tries to make a comprehensive integrated research on these five aspects in combination with detailed program cases.Firstly,this paper discusses the concept and classification of television documentaries,and explains the connotation and expression method of “dramatic”,thus generally expressing the trend that at present,the documentary TV programs have taken the dramatic expression method as the industrial mainstream.Being dramatic has become an important driving force for audiences and reputation of documentary programs,however,the documentary nature is still the foundation of documentary programs,and there is no contradiction at all.Secondly,this paper analyzes the dramatic elements which constitute the documentary programs,including dramatic narrative,context,style,aesthetic appreciation,total four aspects,and makes respective interpretation of the contained dramatic elements as well.For instance,in terms of dramatic narrative: it classify the narrative orientation of various documentary programs from the narrative structure and type,and then makes further exploration of the internal dramatic construction aim conveyed by plot,action,conflict and suspense through the story orientation of documentary programs.In terms of dramatic situation: through establishment and expression of documentary situation as well as reappearance of dramatic situation,it seeks for the meaning of realistic and ideographic dramatic situation.In terms of dramatic modeling,through audio-visual language research of picture modeling,voice application and image modeling,it explores and analyzes the dramatic tension of documentary programs from external perspective.In terms of dramatic aesthetic appreciation,it firstly analyzes the aesthetic-appreciation meaning ought to be displayed by documentary programs,and then analyzes that the dramatic nature could add delight to the documentary nature,namely to combine education with enjoyment or combine thought with enjoyment,thus discussing the coordinating and unified relationship between them,namely,the dramatic nature is just a means to add aesthetic-appreciation meaning to the documentary nature,and its internal nature must refer to the documentary cultural representation.
