| College students are the main force using mobile short video platform with their usage rate growing rapidly, and their dependence on the type of platforms is becoming increasingly serious. Therefore, this study raises the research question,is there a correlation between the social affordances settings of mobile short video platforms and college students’ social media dependence? How does the social affordances of mobile short video platforms affect college students’ social media dependence? As an important factor in using mobile short videos, will online social support play a role between social availability and social media dependence?By addressing these questions, this study will explain the relationship between mobile short video social affordances, online social support, and social media dependence, explore the specific mechanisms through which mobile short video platforms have an impact on media dependence, and broaden the usage and application scope of the affordances theory,as well as the application of social support in the field of mobile short video. In order to solve the above problems, this study first uses a questionnaire survey method, and then uses SPSS 22.0 statistical software to test the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. Then, descriptive statistics and correlation analysis are conducted on the collected data in turn.Through data analysis and relevant argumentation, the theoretical assumptions of this study are verified and the final conclusion is reached. The data shows that there is a positive correlation between the social affordances of mobile short video and the online social support that users receive. That is,the more complete the social affordances functions of mobile short video platforms, the more online social support users would receive. At the same time, there is a positive correlation between online social support received by users and their social media dependence, indicating that under the influence of the social affordances of mobile short video platforms, the more online social support users receive, the stronger their social media dependence would be generated. Finally, this study thinks that, first of all, exploring the human subjectivity and technology requires combining the affordances and domestication of media technology to reflect on the possible future development trends and existing forms of human beings in the interaction between human and technology.Secondly,in the context of social media, people continue to seek online social support after the support they need is met, which even leads to social media dependency. Therefore,it is still worth pondering whether the online social support received by users is real and whether users really need some support. In order to avoid increasing dependence on social media, users should transform and move their multiple identities as receivers, searchers, interlocutors, and communicators.Technology developers and managers should take this as a warning to avoid one-sided pursuit of their own interests, and start to consider the overall health of society from the perspective of users. |
