Single mother is a special mother status,but also a complicated life state.They are a group who are not easy to complain,have hidden identities,and have complex and diverse needs.After becoming single mothers,they not only suffer from social pressures such as economic and social relationship management,but also suffer from the gender bias and stigma brought by the status of "single mothers",which also causes their inner predicament and hinders their channels of social support in reality.And getting online social support from social media platforms is a new option for them.Single mothers use social media to talk about their feelings,make friends,learn parenting and psychological knowledge,and learn about the life experience of single mothers.At the same time,a group of public welfare organizations specializing in serving single mothers are gathering single mothers through social media platforms and providing online public welfare services.Dedicated to helping single mothers dispel self-doubt,enhance self-worth,provide parenting support,and truly embrace themselves as a happy single mother.Therefore,it is of great significance to analyze the positive effects of focusing on women who have become single mothers due to divorce,widowhood or unmarried birth,and who have obtained online social support from public welfare organizations or other channels in the process of using social media.Using the method of in-depth interview and questionnaire survey,this paper firstly investigated the single mothers’ access to supportive information in the use of social media and their current identity as single mothers.Secondly,multiple regression analysis is used to analyze and verify the relationship between online social support and single mothers’ identity.Meanwhile,combined with in-depth interview materials and data analysis results,the process of obtaining online social support in the use of social media plays an in-depth role in the transformation and adaptation of the identity of "single mothers" is analyzed.This paper presents the psychological value and social value of social media as a group of single mothers to broaden social support channels to achieve self-redemption.Based on this,from the three main levels of public welfare organizations,social media platforms and single mothers,it gives corresponding suggestions on how to make good use of social media channels to provide them with better social support.The research finds that single mothers are transmitting more abundant social support through social media platforms,mainly information support and emotional support,and the organization forms and presentation ways of various support types are increasingly diverse.The effect of online social support on the identity of single mothers is a process combining self-empowerment and other-empowerment.In this process,they complete selfidentification,temporary identity liberation,psychological adjustment and identity desensitization in the virtual space,and learn to be aware of themselves,reflect on themselves,care for themselves and improve themselves under the background of the new life stage.It establishes the life value of "single mothers can be very happy",and redefines the value of motherhood in the identity dilemma of constant game between ideal parenting and embrace of self.By examining the life transformation and social media use process of single mothers,and understanding the psychological process of identity transformation and adaptation,we can deeply explore how social media becomes a new channel for single mothers to obtain social support,so as to arouse more social attention and care for this group and promote the harmonious development of individuals and society. |
