Abstract/Summary:
With the development of information technology and the increase of communication and dissemination of academic knowledge, the public social network canno longer meet the academic needs of researchers,so the virtual academic community appears. However, from the present reality, the phenomenon of low user usage and low user activity within the academic community, and the increasing trend of this phenomenon, has seriously affected users’ trust and use of the platform, greatly reduced the density of academic exchanges and restricted their sustainable development.Intermittent dropout behavior of users is a key factor affectingthe sustainable development of virtual academic community. To explain and improve the current situation of virtual academic community,it is necessary to determine which factors lead to intermittent dropout behavior of users. In view of this, this paper takes the users of the virtual academic community as the research object, firstly, through the literature research on the current situation of the virtual academic community, the concept of intermittent dropouts by users, the factors affecting intermittent dropouts by users of the virtual academic community are systematically combed and analyzed, and a systematic review is made.Secondly, based on the research method of root theory and related theories,79 initial concepts were extracted and summarized into 21 valid categories and 7 main categories including individual factors, external factors, ability factors, cognitive factors, fatigue, and transition behavior. After the theoretical saturation test, the model of influencing factors of intermittent dropout behavior in virtual academic community is constructed, and various influencing factors are explained and analyzed. The results show that both user use and transition fatigue in the virtual academic community have a direct impact on intermittent dropouts, while personal, ability, cognitive and external factors have an indirect impact on intermittent dropouts through the regulation of use and transition fatigue. Finally, based on the influence factors of intermittent dropouts and the current situation of the development of the virtual academic community, this paper puts forward the optimization strategy of the platform and the sustainable development of the virtual academic community for future reference. In this paper, the concept of intermittent dropout is extended to the study of user behavior in the virtual academic community, and it is clearly distinguishedfrom complete dropout behavior. Therefore,at the theoretical level, this study enriches the research on the behavior of users who drop out and reuse in the virtual academic community, and improves the theoretical system for the study of intermittent dropouts in this field. At the practical level,it is hoped that the resultsof this paper can provide some guiding significance and reference value for the development, design, operation and management of virtual academic community products, provide more accurate service to users, improve user stickiness, and thenbuild a trusted and beneficial academic exchange environment to promote the healthy development of virtual academic community platform.
