In the Internet age,the number of knowledge workers has grown rapidly.More and more ordinary people are motivated by self-pleasure,entertainment and cultural capital to be a knowledge worker,who provide information,knowledge,and services for free.These unpaid producers of the Internet content are both in the Internet communication chain as communicators and audiences,and also be a workers and consumers of labor products in the labor link.They are an indispensable force in the social communication chain.From the perspective of the political economy of communication,this study uses the method of online ethnography to understand the usage behavior,usage attitude and labor process of unpaid knowledge workers on media platforms in the local context of China,and explores the labor relations between media platforms and users.The appearance of the employment relationship reveals the implicit exploitation logic and ideology behind the labor process.This study can be divided into four chapters.First,It conducts a vertical analysis of the development of unpaid knowledge labor in the local context of China,and analyzes the technical basis and practical background of unpaid labor;Secondly,in the context of new media,it analyzes the completion of unpaid labor by this group to know the labor process,characteristics and motives of platform capitalism in the era of platform capitalism;Thirdly,by analyzing how platform technology uses its own ideology to complete the capture of surplus value,and incorporates consumers and workers into the value extraction chain of platform capitalism;Finally,it puts forward some thoughts on the labor resistance and games of the unpaid labor. |
