Research On "CP Fans" Digital Labor From The Perspective Of Participatory Culture

Fan circle is considered to be an important element in shaping modern participation culture.The participation practice of fans based on cultural production and cultural circulation is a hot topic in current media research.At present,there is a lack of research on single type of fans in the academic circle,and there is a debate between participatory digital labor and exploitative digital labor.Therefore,this study chooses CP fans,a unique fan circle,to study CP fans’ digital labor practices from the perspective of participatory culture.CP fans are fans who take pleasure in forming a CP between two people.They pay more attention to “the mimicry relationship”between CP and CP and satisfy their emotional needs through some behaviors of “ship CP”.Through text analysis and network participatory observation,this study explores the specific labor types and labor characteristics of CP fans’ digital labor.Secondly,through semi-structured interviews with CP fans,this thesis explores the intrinsic motivation of CP fans to engage in digital labor and the result of such cultural participation,so as to seek the significance of CP fans’ digital labor,provide more abundant cases for the study of youth subculture,and provide reference for relevant theories of digital labor participation.It is found that CP fans are engaged in three aspects of digital labor in their own circles,namely,CP text screening(“searching for sugar”),CP data production(“consuming sugar”)and CP “poaching”reproduction(“producing sugar”).They are both consumers and producers in their own creation and meaning construction.CP fan’s digital labor has the characteristics of double participation,circle secrecy,virtual construction and so on.It is a kind of creative and self-pleasing labor.Due to have a crush,not satisfied,and incited,emotional factors,such as positive feedback and resonance,CP fans’ digital work tirelessly,and in the process of participatory learning won the technology capital and social capital accumulation,in the alternative involved in emotion regulation and emotional satisfaction,formed in the course of diversified cooperation to participate in a empathic field,a more harmonious and inclusive CP “Heterotopia” has been established.
