A Study On Linguistic Ambiguity In Financial News Reporting From The Perspective Of Adaptation Theory

With the rapid development of the economy,People’s living standards are increasing,the sense of wealth is also increasing,financial news reports by people more and more attention.This paper studies financial news reports from the perspective of fuzzy linguistics in a new way.Meanwhile,adaptation theory provides a perfect theoretical framework and a new perspective for this study.The emergence and development of fuzziness theory has enriched various research fields.Fuzziness is an essential attribute of language.Based on The adaptation theory of Verschueren as the theoretical framework,this paper takes the news reports of the digital journal of 21 st Century Business Herald from March 2021 to April 2022 as the corpus source,carries out stratified random sampling at different layers by month,and selects 100 reports to build a corpus.Case analysis and quantitative corpus analysis are used to explore the use of fuzzy language in financial news reports from the perspective of adaptation theory.This paper mainly includes the following four aspects: First,the definition and introduction of the concept of adaptation theory and related concepts of financial news reporting and linguistic fuzzy expression.Secondly,it introduces the specific application of fuzziness expression in financial news reports,and explores the concrete embodiment of fuzziness expression in financial news reports based on the five elements of news and specific cases.Thirdly,a quantitative corpus analysis is carried out on 100 reports in the sample database,and the use of fuzzy expression in financial news reports is summarized.Then combined with specific cases to analyze the reasons and functions of fuzzy expression in financial news reports.Fourth,guided by adaptation theory and combined with specific cases,this paper analyzes how fuzzy expression ADAPTS to the psychological world,social world and physical world in financial reports.Finally,some suggestions on how to use fuzziness in financial news reports are put forward.
