The study of Confucian Chinese language education ideology is a hot topic in current Chinese language education research.As a representative figure of Confucianism during the Middle Tang Dynasty,Liu Zongyuan actively carried out Chinese language education activities.Studying Liu Zongyuan’s Chinese language education ideology is of great significance for inheriting and carrying forward the excellent Chinese language education tradition in ancient China.This paper takes Liu Zongyuan’s Chinese language education ideology as the research object,using literature research,interdisciplinary research,and comparative research methods to demonstrate from three aspects:Firstly,explore the origin of Liu Zongyuan’s Chinese language education ideology.Political turmoil,the destitution of the people’s life,and cultural integration are the historical background for the emergence of Liu Zongyuan’s Chinese language education ideology.The personal reasons for the emergence of Liu Zongyuan’s Chinese language education ideology are his learning experience,political experience,and participation in the ancient literary movement.Secondly,sort out the connotation of Liu Zongyuan’s Chinese language education ideology.Liu Zongyuan’s Chinese language education ideology mainly includes the view on the purpose of Chinese language education,the view on Chinese language teaching,and the view on Chinese language teacher.The purpose of Liu Zongyuan’s Chinese language education is to cultivate students into Confucian gentlemen with noble moral character and good language skills.Liu Zongyuan’s views on Chinese language teaching include the view on Chinese reading teaching and the view on Chinese writing teaching.The view of Liu Zongyuan’s Chinese language reading teaching is based on the Five Classics of Confucianism and the works of pre-Qin scholars and Records of the Historian as a reference,requiring students to adopt appropriate methods for extensive reading.The view of Liu Zongyuan’s Chinese writing teaching includes four aspects: writing motivation,writing principles,writing attitude,and writing skills.Liu Zongyuan’s view on Chinese language teacher is to recognize the role of teacher in preaching,emphasize the importance of teacher literacy,and require teacher to use the method of making friends with students for education.Finally,explore the inspiration of Liu Zongyuan’s Chinese language education ideology to contemporary Chinese language education.The enlightenment of Liu Zongyuan’s view on the purpose of Chinese language education: Chinese language education should adhere to the cultivation of morality and talent;Chinese language education should focus on both knowledge and ability.The enlightenment of Liu Zongyuan’s Chinese reading teaching view: Guiding students to read broadly;Guiding students to distinguish the content of reading;Guiding students to read gradually;Guiding students to communicate in reading;Guiding students to innovate in reading.The enlightenment of Liu Zongyuan’s Chinese writing teaching view:Stimulating students’ writing motivation;Enriching students’ writing content;Correcting students’ writing attitude;Teaching students writing skills.The enlightenment of Liu Zongyuan’s view on Chinese language teacher: Teachers need to change their role;Teachers need to improve their literacy.
