The report of the 20 th Party Congress stresses that the fundamental basis of socialist education is morality, and that schools must fully implement the Party’s education policy and carry out the fundamental task of cultivating people with morality.Under the guidance of the policy of "building moral character",primary school language textbooks are paying more and more attention to the inheritance and promotion of revolutionary culture, and the number of selected texts of revolutionary cultural works has increased significantly,so that students can learn revolutionary culture and spirit while taking into account the cultivation of language literacy.Primary school students are at a critical stage in their ideological and moral enlightenment, establishing a correct outlook on life and values, and their cognitive development is not yet complete. The promotion of revolutionary culture in the language subject not only highlights the cultural charm and nurtures the ideological spirit, but also fosters students’ internal motivation for learning language knowledge and improving their overall literacy. The Language Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)(here in after referred to as the Curriculum Standards)indicate that language teaching in schools has given full play to its irreplaceable superiority in the areas of passing on and promoting the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation, the culture of the Chinese revolution and the excellent culture of socialism,as well as enhancing students’ deep understanding of and identification with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.Therefore,it is appropriate to carry out revolutionary culture education in the language classroom to cultivate patriotism on the basis of grasping the scale of the subject and taking into account the cultivation of knowledge and ability. In this study,we have reviewed the relevant literature, collated and analysed the texts of revolutionary cultural works in the upper primary language textbooks of the Unified Edition, and found that the Unified Edition textbooks have been compiled in a clear hierarchy from shallow to deep, with a wide range of periods, topics and genres, and are taught in thematic units, taking into account the humanistic and instrumental nature of the language subject. On this basis, research was carried out on the actual teaching situation, with questionnaires and interviews conducted with some teachers and students in three primary schools in a district of H city,as well as observational research on the actual teaching in the classroom,to fully understand the current situation of teaching texts on revolutionary traditional documents in the primary school language classroom. The analysis of the survey results revealed that there were problems with the teaching of the text in terms of shallow emotional exploration, poor idealisation of the objectives, ineffective mechanisation of the teaching methods, and fragmented learning outcomes, deviated learning content and shallow perception of emotional values among the student population. In order to better promote teaching and learning and to address the practical problems, this study proposes improvement measures in three areas: deepening the analysis of teaching materials, optimising the teaching process and improving overall literacy, based on the results of textbook analysis and research, with a view to providing value to classroom teaching of revolutionary cultural works. However, due to various reasons, there are still shortcomings in this study. In future study work,we will continue to deepen the theoretical basis, deepen the research footing and expand the survey subjects to achieve a more comprehensive investigation of the current teaching situation,in order to achieve more accurate and representative findings and to promote the teaching of revolutionary cultural works. |
