With the rapid growth of the internet and the impact of the pandemic,the live streaming industry has grown rapidly.Watching live streaming has become a form of entertainment for many amid the novel coronavirus.The number of live streaming subscribers is on the rise and is expected to reach 660 million by 2022.However,as an emerging industry,Webcasting is very different from the traditional industry,and the specificity of its transactions and the complexity of its operations pose a challenge to revenue recognition in transactions.There are no clear rules on accounting treatment of virtual assets in our country.Webcast platform needs a lot of professional judgment on revenue recognition,which may cause the time and amount of revenue recognition to not reflect economic essence reasonably,and affect the quality of accounting information.This paper adopts case study method,takes the live fighting as an example,studies the problems in revenue recognition and measurement of live fighting in the context of the new revenue standard,analyzes the causes of the problems,and finally puts forward some suggestions for the improvement of revenue recognition and measurement of live fighting and other live streaming platform enterprises.At present,there are the following problems in revenue recognition and measurement: The time point of revenue recognition is unclear,and revenue recognition is not based on consumption properties of virtual objects;mishandling the accounting of live marketing of fish fights and not corresponding accounting treatment of virtual currency and virtual goods given to users;There is no reasonable estimate of damages and corresponding revenue recognition for live fish fights and no revenue recognition for live fish fights in longunused currencies that meet the revenue recognition conditions;There is no clear distinction between the gross or net method of pay-per-view for live fights,and the use of the gross or net method should be determined based on the platform’s contractual relationship with the anchor.In view of the existing problems of live fish fighting,this paper also puts forward some suggestions for improvement.It is hoped that it can also provide some reference for other live broadcast platforms,so as to improve the non-standard problem of revenue recognition and measurement and improve the financial information of live broadcast enterprises. |
