Reading has long been a social concern,and it is especially important for students entering first grade to develop an interest in reading at the beginning of their studies.The unified textbook has incorporated reading outside of the classroom into the curriculum,with links to reading outside of the classroom throughout the 12 volumes of the textbook for grades 1-6,including the "Reading with adults" section in both volumes of the first grade textbook,reflecting the emphasis on reading in the language curriculum.As one of the highlights of the unified textbook,"Reading with adults" takes into account the fact that first graders are not yet able to read independently,and therefore the design of the section guides adults to read with them,which helps reduce the difficulty of reading and creates interest in reading during the critical period when children first start school.Due to a variety of factors,there are still many problems that need to be solved in the process of implementing "Reading with adults" in practice.In this study,we investigate the current situation of "Reading with adults" through literature,text analysis,questionnaires and interviews,and propose countermeasures to address the problems.The study is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly expounds the research background,significance,research review,relevant theoretical basis and research ideas and methods.The second chapter is the analysis of the column of "Reading with adults",which mainly gives an overall overview of the column and elaborates and analyses the meaning and content of the column.The third chapter is the current status of the implementation of the "Reading with adults" column.In this study,questionnaires were administered to some first grade parents in eight primary schools in different teaching districts in S County,and interviews were conducted with students and teachers,and the findings of all three were collated and analyzed.The forth chapter is an analysis of the existing problems and reasons for the implementation of the "Reading with adults" programme.In the process of research and investigation,it was found that the following five problems exist in the implementation of "Reading with adults" in S County: teachers pay little attention to it,parents implement it arbitrarily,students are not highly motivated to read,the form of evaluation of students after reading by home and school is mechanical,and there is a gap between urban and rural areas in practice.The main reasons for this are that students’ reading habits have not yet been developed,teachers’ guidance on "Reading with adults" is insufficient,parents are constrained by the reality of reading with their children,and the cooperation between home and school on "Reading with adults" has not been formed.The fifth chapter is about measures to improve the implementation of the "Reading with adults" programme.In view of the existing problems and their causes,this study proposes improvement strategies at three levels: teachers,parents,and home-school co-education.At the level of teachers,improve cognition,enrich activity forms,scientifically assign tasks,and concentrate teaching and research to form a joint force;At the level of parents,establish a good co-reading concept and create a good co-reading environment;At the level of home-school co-education,teachers give specific guidance,parents actively cooperate and optimize the evaluation of home and school.Then take the ’David’ series of picture books as an example to summarize the interactive reading mode of home and school.Hope to provide reference for front-line teachers,so that the value of the "Reading with adults" section can be fully utilized.
