As we enter the 21 st century,economic globalisation has become a strong zeitgeist.With the development of Internet technology,international connections have been strengthened.While international exchanges have become more frequent,crises and problems have also emerged.In recent years,issues concerning national sovereignty have emerged,and the cultivation of a sense of national sovereignty has become a social concern.Whether or not a nation has the right concept of national sovereignty is a matter of the rise and fall of a nation and a country.As students are not fully developed physically and mentally at the senior secondary level,it is particularly important to cultivate their awareness of national sovereignty.Cultivating students’ awareness of national sovereignty in high school history teaching is in line with the requirements of the new curriculum and meets the needs of the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics.Compared to the old textbook,the new history textbook has a significantly higher proportion of content related to national sovereignty,reflecting the importance the government attaches to the cultivation of students’ national sovereignty awareness.Due to students’ own cognitive limitations and the domestic and international environment,students do not pay much attention to the knowledge of national sovereignty and lack precise knowledge of its specific connotations,and are unable to accurately identify the content of national sovereignty in the textbooks.Teachers,as the implementers of teaching,also neglect to cultivate students’ awareness of national sovereignty in this process.In order to ensure the effectiveness of national sovereignty awareness,the teaching of history should be led by core literacy,innovative teaching models,the use of boundary maps,the use of micro-learning and the active establishment of links between other subjects and history knowledge to stimulate and strengthen students’ national sovereignty awareness.This is a feasible strategy based on a sound analysis of the survey data and the actual situation of the students and the teaching.Under the guidance of this strategy,the author has carried out a series of exercises to cultivate national sovereignty awareness.Through research on the effectiveness of the cultivation,it was found that students’ awareness of national sovereignty had been strengthened to a greater extent than before,and they were able to consciously pay attention to and distinguish points related to national sovereignty.However,the survey data also revealed that in the process of cultivating national sovereignty awareness,students were unclear about the concept of national sovereignty,imprecise in grasping the relevant knowledge points,and radical tendency and indifference in defending national sovereignty.It is the mission of the subject of history to strengthen the awareness of national sovereignty in the new era.In doing so,we must focus on popularising the concept and meaning of national sovereignty as a prerequisite for the cultivation of national sovereignty.In addition,it is necessary to pay attention to the differences in students’ awareness of national sovereignty and to use effective methods to strengthen the awareness of national sovereignty of all students.
