Due to an important stage of students’ academic development in senior high school, parents and schools attach great importance to the change of their academic performance.Learning engagement is an important predictor of students’ academic performance and school teaching quality. In addition to the heavy learning tasks, high school students are also faced with many important choices about the direction of career development.Career maturity refers to the readiness of individuals to make career choices that suit them at different stages of career development, which plays a significant impact on individual career development and study.Under the background of the new college entrance examination reform, career education has become a rigid need for high school education, but some teachers and parents still think that career education will waste students’ learning time and energy, and will not help students improve their academic performance.Based on this, this study intends to explore the relationship between career maturity and learning engagement of high school students, and design a career education curriculum based on cognitive information processing theory to explore whether the curriculum plan can improve the career maturity of high school students, thereby promoting learning. The study aims to explore the status of the career maturity and learning engagement of high school students,as well as the relationship of the above two,by virtue of the "Middle School Students’ Career Maturity Questionnaire" and "Learning Engagement Scale" investigated on 492 participants. After analyzing the survey results,a set of career education courses was designed to intervene high school students, and the experimental design was compared among the experimental group, the placebo group and the control group. The experimental group received career education courses based on cognitive information processing theory, the placebo group received traditional lecture-style career courses, and the control group received no intervention. Before and after the intervention,"Middle School Students’ Career Maturity Questionnaire" and "Learning Engagement Scale" were used to conduct pre-test and post-test on the subjects.A follow-up post-test was performed one month after the intervention. The results show that:(1)the level of high school students’ learning engagement is at the upper-middle level;(2)the career maturity of senior high school students is at the medium level;(3)there is a significant positive correlation between the career maturity and learning engagement of senior high school students;(4)Career education courses based on cognitive information processing theory can significantly improve the career maturity of high school students, thereby promoting the level of learning engagement, and has a lasting effect.
