| In recent years,teenagers’ physical health is the focus of discussion in all walks of life.China’s education is in an important period of rapid development,but the physical health problems of teenagers can not be effectively solved for many years.Middle school students,as teenagers,are entering adolescence.Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 worldwide,their time and space for physical exercise are being increasingly compressed due to the restrictions of relevant policies and places.School physical education is the main body,is the main place for junior high school students physical education;Family physical education environment is the foundation and beneficial supplement to school physical education.The organic cooperation between home and school is conducive to creating a positive and healthy family sports environment and campus sports environment.As the guardian of junior high school students,parents bear the important responsibility of their educational activities,and the "sports" that parents participate in together is a complete "sports" for junior high school students.Based on this,this paper proposes the following research questions: What is the influence of parents’ participation on children’s physical exercise time? What factors play a mediating role in influencing the time of children’s physical exercise? In other words,the purpose of this paper is to explore the influence of parental participation on physical exercise time of junior middle school students and its mechanism.This study using a nationally representative sample of Chinese Education Panel Survey(CEPS)2013-2014 and 2014-2015,two survey data,take two data to successful students,for parents to participate in the independent variables(including parents,parents,parents discipline with three dimension),the students physical exercise time each week as the dependent variable,At the same time,non-cognitive ability(emotional regulation ability,willpower),perceived social support,physical and mental conditions(obesity perception,health awareness,health education courses)were tested as mediating variables.Through literature review,multiple regression model design,mediation model,after controlling individual,family and school level variables,explore the impact of core variables on junior high school students’ physical exercise time and the mediation mechanism.Conclusions:(1)After controlling individual,family and school level variables,the three dimensions of parental participation have a significant positive effect on the physical exercise time of junior middle school students.At the same time,after including non-cognitive ability,perceived social support,physical and mental conditions and other variables,the dimensions of parental participation are still significantly positive and stable.The higher the level of parental participation,the longer the children’s physical exercise time.(2)After controlling for individual,family and school level variables,non-cognitive ability has a significant positive effect on physical exercise time of junior middle school students.Non-cognitive ability passed the mediation test in the three paths of parental participation.The mediating effect of non-cognitive ability was the smallest in the time path of parental chaperon-physical exercise,indicating that non-cognitive ability had little influence on the dimension of parental chaperon-physical exercise.The mediating effect of willpower in parental discipline and parental communication pathways accounted for 40% and 37% respectively,indicating that willpower plays an important role in the influence process of parental involvement.(3)After controlling for individual,family and school level variables,social support has a significant positive effect on physical exercise time of junior middle school students.Perceived social support passes the mediation test.The results indicate that social support plays a conductive role in the influence path.The mediating effect of parental involvement was25%,31% and 10%,respectively.It means that the mediating effect of social support is significant and influential.(4)After controlling individual,family and school level variables,physical and mental condition has a significant positive effect on physical exercise time of junior middle school students.When obesity perception,health awareness and health education curriculum were included in the model at the same time,there was no difference in the impact of health education curriculum on physical exercise time.Obesity perception and health consciousness have a substitute effect on health education curriculum.The mediating test results showed that the three dimensions of physical and mental condition passed the mediating test in the effect of the three dimensions of parental participation on physical exercise time.Physical and mental conditions play a conductive role in it.Perception of obesity had the least mediating effect.The influence of health consciousness is the next,and the influence of health education curriculum is the highest.Suggestions:(1)Parents should pay attention to the supervision of their children’s emotion,provide emotional support for their children’s physical exercise,and moderately supervise their children’s physical exercise time.(2)Strengthen parent-child communication and pay attention to the physical and mental health of children in adolescence.(3)Take the epidemic as an opportunity to give their children more company,meet their psychological needs during physical exercise,and set a spiritual example. |
