Home-school cooperation is a hot topic in education reform at home and abroad and an important trend in the development of education.There is a growing awareness that schools alone cannot carry the burden of education and that good education requires a joint effort between home and school.Research has shown that parental involvement in home-school cooperation has a significant impact on students’ academic performance in science,but little research has been conducted to reveal the internal mechanism of the interaction between the two.Therefore,this study investigated and analysed the current situation of parental involvement in home-school cooperation,parental satisfaction,teacher-student relationship and academic performance in biology in Jiangxi Province,and examined the mediating role of parental satisfaction in parental involvement in home-school cooperation and academic performance of junior high school students in biology,as well as the moderating role of teacher-student relationship in these mediating effects.In this study,4,602 eighth-grade students and their parents from 303 middle schools in Jiangxi Province were used as subjects.The students were given a science literacy test to measure academic performance in biology,and the Parental Involvement in Home-School Cooperation Scale,the Parent Satisfaction Scale and the Teacher-Student Relationship Scale were used to measure parental involvement in home-school cooperation,parent satisfaction and teacher-student relationship,respectively.In order to understand the current status of each variable and the influencing factors,the data from the test and questionnaires were collated and statistically analysed using AMOS 24.0 and SPSS 24.0,and a Bootstrap test using the PROCESS macro in SPSS 24.0 was used to test the mediating and moderating effects of each variable.The results of this study show that The results of this study showed that parental involvement in home-school cooperation positively predicted junior high school students’ academic performance in biology,parental satisfaction mediated the relationship between parental involvement in home-school cooperation and academic performance in biology,and teacher-student relationship moderated the relationship between parental involvement in home-school cooperation and academic performance in biology and parental satisfaction. |
