Project based learning is a teaching form that has emerged in recent years and is based on constructivist educational theory.Its main viewpoint is that students engage in self-directed learning through group cooperation and solve complex problems in real life through in-depth thinking.Project based learning has certain benefits in building students’ overall thinking and cultivating their comprehensive practical abilities,and is a new learning method that promotes effective teaching and learning reform.At present,there are multiple high and primary schools in Qingdao carrying out project-based learning,but the implementation and promotion of project-based learning in Qingdao’s junior high schools are not smooth.This study selects S Middle School as the main research object and adopts a case study method to comprehensively study the current situation,effectiveness,and problems of the promotion and implementation process of project-based learning in S Middle School.Firstly,analyze the school background and curriculum reform history of S Middle School,and through a questionnaire survey,understand the teachers’ understanding of project-based learning and students’ learning motivation under the traditional mode.Analyze the necessity of promoting project-based learning in S Middle School,as well as the positioning and curriculum concept of project-based learning implementation in S Middle School.Determine the basic path of promoting project-based learning in S Middle School: exploration-improvement-maturity-improvement.Secondly,using methods such as interviews and observations to investigate,summarize,and reflect on the current implementation status of S Middle School,this study analyzed the progress of project-based learning in S Middle School from four stages:the initial construction period,the exploration period,the improvement period,and the mature period.From a theoretical and practical perspective,it was concluded that the implementation of project-based learning in middle school is beneficial for improving teachers’ professional level and developing students’ abilities,However,it is necessary to select appropriate disciplines while ensuring effective implementation and not becoming mere formality.Finally,the effectiveness of project-based learning implementation in S Middle School was analyzed,its advantages were affirmed,the practical difficulties it faced were identified,and the exposed problems were analyzed and reflected on from the perspective of educational principles and essence.
