Mathematical modeling is one of the six core competencies in mathematics proposed in the "Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)".Participating in mathematical modeling activities can improve students’ ability to analyze and solve problems,cultivate innovative thinking styles,and better integrate disciplines to improve their overall quality.In this research,564 senior high school students from two ordinary high schools in K city are selected,and qualitative research and quantitative research methods are used to investigate the current situation,existing problems and influencing factors of their mathematical modeling literacy.This research first consulted domestic and foreign references and materials related to mathematical modeling to understand relevant theories.Based on SOLO Classification Theory and Yu Ping’s Mathematical Modeling Literacy Level Division Theory,the mathematical modeling literacy evaluation framework used in this research is constructed;Secondly,a mathematical modeling literacy test paper and a questionnaire are prepared for senior two students to investigate the students,and a teacher interview outline is prepared to interview frontline teachers;Finally,SPSS27.0 and Excel software are used to analyze the data,understand the current level of students’ mathematical modeling literacy,identify the problems and influencing factors that exist in students’ mathematical modeling,propose corresponding training strategies based on the survey results,and write a mathematical modeling teaching design.The conclusion is as follows:(1)The overall level of mathematical modeling literacy among high school sophomores is relatively low,with students’ mathematical modeling literacy mostly at levels 2 and 3(with the highest being level 5),showing a leftward bias.(2)There is no significant difference in the level of mathematical modeling literacy between different genders of high school sophomores.(3)There is no significant difference in the mathematical modeling literacy level between A and B high school sophomore students.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between the scores of the student questionnaire and the scores of each dimension of the student questionnaire and the scores of the test paper.That is,the better students perform in the survey questionnaire and each dimension,the higher the scores of the test paper.The dimensions of the questionnaire,namely modeling knowledge,modeling emotion,modeling will,and modeling application,are important factors for the development of students’ mathematical modeling literacy.(5)The problems that high school sophomores have in terms of mathematical modeling literacy are as follows: high school sophomores do not have solid modeling basic knowledge,and their knowledge of geometry The understanding of probability and other related modeling knowledge is not deep enough to proficiently apply relevant knowledge to construct mathematical models that match the meaning of the problem;High school sophomores do not have good modeling emotions,and most of them are not interested in mathematical modeling and cannot realize the application value of mathematical modeling;High school sophomores have almost never experienced a complete mathematical modeling process and do not understand the specific process of mathematical modeling.In response to the current situation and existing problems of mathematical modeling literacy among high school sophomores,the following cultivation strategies are proposed :(1)Elaborately create the problem situation to stimulate students’ interest in modeling;(2)Consolidate students’ basic knowledge and activate the selection of modeling methods;(3)Pay attention to the mathematical modeling process and improve the mathematical modeling skills;(4)Strengthen modeling practice training and consolidate mathematical modeling knowledge.Based on the training strategy,write teaching designs such as "Flag Pole Height Measurement" and "Ellipse and Its Standard Equation",hoping to provide reference and inspiration for frontline teachers.
