Since the Ministry of Education issued the Opinions on Further Promoting the Reform of the High School Examination and Enrollment System in 2016,all provinces in China have successively promoted the reform of the high school entrance examination.The reform of the geography senior high school examination was launched in 2017,and will be promoted across the province in 2020 after being implemented in pilot areas.The reform of basic education,especially the inclusion of geography into the middle school examination,not only updated the traditional educational ideas,but also put forward higher requirements for the professional quality of geography teachers in middle school.Before geography into the effects,though,as a minor course,geography curriculum neglected for a long time,geography teachers’ professional quality is relatively low,such as county middle school,the author’s geography teaching jobs arranged randomly,part of the geography teachers teach knowledge,education is not up to standard,do not have a junior high school geography teaching the necessary professional knowledge and ability,Has affected the basic education reform and examination reform to further advance.How to face the reform,update the concept,effectively improve the professional quality of junior middle school geography teachers,as soon as possible to get out of the teacher trough has become a top priority.This paper adopts literature research method,questionnaire survey method,interview method and comprehensive analysis method,taking the geography teachers of county middle school in Dengfeng City,Henan Province as the research object,in order to explore how to effectively improve the professional quality of geography teachers under the background of the new high school entrance examination,carries out investigation and research.Through consulting and combing the literature found that the geography examination of many studies,involving many aspects of the examination;The research on geography teachers’ professional literacy mainly focuses on the definition of concepts and training strategies.There are few literatures on how to improve the professional quality of geography teachers under the situation of geography examination reform.Therefore,it is necessary to discuss the requirements of geography teachers’ professional quality and the ways to improve the new ideas of basic education and the reform of high school entrance examination,so as to better promote the smooth progress of the reform of high school entrance examination.On the basis of combing the literature and referring to the existing research results,firstly,the professional accomplishment structure of junior middle school geography teachers is defined based on the professional standards of middle school teachers,geography curriculum and teaching theory.Secondly,through the analysis of the reform plan and proposition characteristics of the geography examination in Henan Province,interviews with the geography teachers of junior middle schools in the pilot areas and analyzes the reform situation of the geography examination in the pilot areas,to grasp the requirements of the professional quality of junior middle school geography teachers in the situation of the geography examination reform.At the same time,according to the theory of teacher professional development stage,middle school teachers’ professional standards and compulsory education geography curriculum standards,the geography curriculum and teaching theory such as questionnaire,using the questionnaire,interview survey methods such as survey of dengfeng city junior high school geography teacher’s specialized accomplishment present situation,found that overall professional dengfeng city junior high school geography teachers is not high,the following specific problems:(1)Imperfect knowledge structure.The degree of general scientific and cultural knowledge is good,and the application effect is good,but the ontological knowledge,conditional knowledge and practical knowledge are relatively lacking,among which the professional knowledge of geography is weak,and there is an obvious gap with the requirements of knowledge literacy for teachers in the high school entrance examination.(2)The ability structure is not balanced,and the basic teaching design ability and teaching implementation ability of geography teachers are good,basically meeting the requirements of the middle school entrance examination;The geography education teaching research ability and the ability to guide students to carry out extra-curricular practice are weak,and there is a certain gap with the requirements of the high school entrance examination.(3)The concept and requirements of geography curriculum reform and geography examination reform have not been fully understood,and the implementation in practical teaching is insufficient;(4)The degree of specialization of geography teachers is low,and there are a small number of teachers who do not reach the standard of academic qualifications and do not teach what they have learned.The reasons are as follows :(1)a small number of geography teachers in junior middle schools do not teach what they are learning and do not reach the standard of education background;(2)Outdated concepts of education administrative departments and junior high schools;(3)Geography teachers’ own professional development consciousness is weak;(4)Geography has been ignored for a long time.On the basis of the above research,finally,from the two aspects of the teachers themselves and the management department,put forward strategies for the improvement of the professional quality of local junior middle school geography teachers:(1)the geography teachers themselves deeply understand the education concept of geography examination,strengthen the sense of self-development;(2)Compare the requirements of the middle school entrance examination,find their own gap,and make improvement plans;(3)Take advantage of various learning and training opportunities to implement plans and improve professional quality;(4)Take the initiative to learn modern educational information technology and expand the means of geography teaching;(5)Put what you learn into practice and seriously practice the ideas and requirements of the reform of the high school entrance examination.Education administrative departments and schools :(1)broaden the channels for improving teachers’ professional quality according to the requirements of geography examination;(2)Improve the entrance threshold of geography teachers,carefully arrange geography teachers’ posts;(3)Reform the assessment and evaluation system of geography teachers.
