As part of classical literature,ancient travelogue prose is a concentrated manifestation of excellent traditional Chinese culture.The travelogues not only showcase the natural resources of our ancient beauty,but also,through them,subliminally permeate the aesthetic pursuits of the ancients when appreciating the landscape,demonstrating the uniquely Chinese quality of beauty in travelogues.To implement the teaching task of enhancing students’ aesthetic and cultural literacy in language teaching,the thesis captures the two core elements of aesthetics and traditional culture,i.e.placing travelogues in the context of traditional culture and exploring the beauty of travelogues in the context of the aesthetic pursuits of the ancients,thus examining the aesthetic education of ancient travelogue prose.Such a study aims to provide a new path for the aesthetic education of travelogues,to optimise the teaching of travelogues,and to provide reference and reference for frontline teachers in their actual teaching.The innovation of the thesis is to explore the aesthetic education of travelogues in the context of traditional culture.The object of the study is the ancient travelogue prose in the unified version of the junior high school language textbook,and the study is divided into the following five parts:Firstly,the first part is the Introduction,which introduces the causes of aesthetic education of ancient travelogue prose,the current situation of aesthetic education about ancient travelogues as well as the significance of the study and the research methodology.Secondly,it defines the concept of ancient travelogue prose,composes an overview of the selection of ancient travelogue prose in language textbooks,and analyses the necessity of implementing aesthetic education for travelogues in terms of curriculum standards,textbook requirements and learning situations.Again,the aesthetic qualities of ancient travelogue prose in junior secondary language textbooks are focused on.Firstly,it is discussed that the ancient travelogue prose included in the textbook mostly belongs to the feminine and soft category of China’s traditional aesthetic style,thus defining the scope of application for the aesthetic qualities of travelogue in this paper.On the basis of this limited scope,the aesthetic qualities of ancient travelogue prose are explored in the light of the common beauty presented in the textbook and the aesthetic pursuits of the ancients: the beauty of the hidden song,the beauty of the vitality of the landscape and the beauty of the interplay of scenes.This is followed by a detailed discussion of the ways in which these three aesthetic qualities of travelogues are shaped,laying a solid foundation for later integration with teaching practice.Once again,the questionnaire and interview methods are combined to investigate the current state of implementation of aesthetic education in travelogues.Through the survey,it is found that the aesthetic education of travelogues in junior high school language has the problems of teachers’ weak genre awareness,insufficient attention to aesthetic education,teachers and students’ lack of necessary traditional aesthetic knowledge accumulation,and students’ low aesthetic level.On this basis,the causes of the problems are explored to pave the way for the practical teaching strategies proposed below.Finally,taking into account the research on the aesthetic theory and practice of ancient travelogue prose,the thesis proposes specific strategies for the aesthetic education of ancient travelogue prose in terms of thorough and detailed preparation before class,comprehensive and profound analysis of the text in class,the use of flexible and lively aesthetic education methods,and the expansion of aesthetic knowledge after class.The paper also takes the aesthetic qualities of "the beauty of the hidden song" as an example,and uses the group reading format as a teaching design to provide reference for frontline teachers to optimise their teaching.In conclusion,the thesis hopes to improve the current teaching situation of ancient travelogue prose and to contribute to the construction of a vibrant,harmonious and efficient language classroom.
