In this paper,14 language teachers and 20 classes of students in six secondary schools in County C were used as research subjects.The questionnaire,interview,classroom observation and physical analysis methods were used to investigate the current situation of teachers’ and students’ use of the Travelogue Unit Exercise System,to summarise the problems presented by the current situation of use,to analyse the factors affecting the efficiency of teachers’ and students’ use,and then to make suggestions for use.Firstly,a systematic overview is given of the classification of the number of practice questions,question types,knowledge and processing levels in two dimensions of the middle school language travelogue unit practice system.It is concluded that the travelogue unit practice system has the characteristics of implementing language elements and having clear learning objectives for travelogues;sticking to the text and focusing on the cultivation of generalisation skills;enhancing thinking and focusing on the training of individual skills;linking inside and outside the classroom and experiencing the unique charm of travelogues;listing travelogue writing prompts and providing decision-making directions;and playing the role of process monitoring to promote the completion of writing objectives.Secondly,the purpose of the questionnaire,interview and classroom observation survey was clarified.To outline the situation of the survey respondents,including the situation of the six secondary schools in County C,the situation of the students and the situation of the classroom observation teachers.Introduce the survey methods of sampling questionnaire method,interview method and classroom observation method.Describe the content of the survey,and clarify the research ideas for the investigation and study of the current situation of using the travelogue unit practice system in middle school languages.The survey content mainly includes teachers’ and students’ awareness of the travelogue unit;teachers’ teaching in the travelogue classroom;students’ learning behaviour in the travelogue classroom;and teachers’ and students’ evaluation.Third,research methods such as questionnaires,classroom observations,interviews and physical analysis were used to collect data on the current use of the travelogue unit exercise system by some students in six secondary schools in County C.The problems in the use of the travelogue unit exercise system in middle school languages were analysed.The survey data showed that teachers had problems in using the system,such as lack of guidance on the exercises of the travelogue extra-curricular extension category and interpretation of the travelogue writing tasks.Students had problems with poor completion of the macro-procedure exercises and lack of proficiency in the information extraction exercises.Further,the current state of use of the travelogue unit exercise system was analysed in terms of attribution to students,teachers and the social environment.Fourthly,some constructive suggestions are made on the dilemma of using the travelogue unit exercise system in junior secondary school: on the part of students,to increase the importance of knowledge;to bridge the understanding of the sense of travel inside and outside the classroom.On the part of teachers,strengthen the understanding of teaching travelogues;enrich the content of teaching travelogues;refine the tasks of writing travelogues.For teachers,optimise the form of questioning;integrate local resources.
