Ordinary high school language curriculum standards(2017 edition,revised in 2020)based on the nature and characteristics of Chinese subject,creatively puts forward the concept of learning task group Literature.The "whole book reading and discussion" learning task group has the significance of keeping pace with the times.It aims to promote the ability in students’ improvement of language,thinking,aesthetics and cultural multidimensionality from the distinction between the reading of "whole book" and single reading.Not only the irreplaceable position of "Dream of Red Mansions" in the history of Chinese literature,but also its potential teaching value and significance that can be used for reading and teaching in the whole book reading."Dream of Red Mansions" is listed in the unit 7 of the compulsory compilation of high school Chinese textbooks,as an example of the whole book reading content.Students can be guided to conduct joint research on the same topic,explore ways to solve problems,and read the whole book in depth from the thematic teaching.From the perspective of the "whole book reading and discussion" learning task group,this study takes the unit 7 as an example to explore the specific implementation of the thematic teaching of the "character analysis" in "Dream of Red Mansions".Based on studying the new curriculum standards and the united compilation of high school Chinese textbooks,this paper analyzes and discusses the specific implementation of the thematic teaching of "character analysis" for reading the whole book--"Dream of Red Mansions" by taking unit 7 as an example from the requirements of the learning objectives and content of the "whole book reading and discussion" learning task group.Firstly,the theoretical achievements of the research on whole book reading teaching and character analysis in "Dream of Red Mansions" are collected,sorted out and studied to clarify the research significance and methods of "character analysis" teaching of "Dream of Red Mansions" based on the "whole book reading and discussion" learning task group.Secondly,it defines the concepts related to the reading of the whole book in high school Chinese textbooks and analyzes the implementation basis of the thematic teaching of the whole book reading of "Dream of Red Mansions" from the perspectives of learning task requirements,the characteristics of teaching materials,the requirements of language curriculum reform,and the students’ learning situation.It explains the value of "character analysis" thematic teaching of "Dream of Red Mansions" in sorting out character relationships to promote students’ thinking development,appreciating character images to enhance students’ appreciation abilities,experiencing character charm to accumulate students’ cultural heritage,and so on.Thirdly,according to the investigation and analysis of the current whole book reading teaching of "Dream of Red Mansions",to understand the learning status of students and the teaching situation of teachers,analyze the difficulties in the whole book reading teaching of "Dream of Red Mansions" and propose the corresponding improvement measures.Finally,from the determination of teaching objectives,the integration of teaching resources and the design of the teaching process,to carry out the thematic teaching design of "character analysis" in the whole book reading of "Dream of Red Mansions" and take reflections and improvements on it.
