Geography Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools(2017 Edition,2020 Revision Edition)emphasizes the importance of improving students’ core geography literacy,and it runs through all parts of the curriculum standards.Geography practice is an important part of the core geography literacy,which is not only a characteristic reflection of the geography discipline,but also a hot issue in current education research.However,due to difficult evaluation and high teaching pressure in actual classroom teaching,the cultivation of geographical practical force has not been paid enough attention.In order to better cultivate the core literacy of geography,the human education edition of Geography textbooks was revised and put into use in September 2019.The activity column in the textbook is also revised to cultivate the core quality of students’ geography,and it is applied to the cultivation of geography practice ability,so that the combination of geography practice ability and activity column in the textbook can achieve better teaching effect.However,because the content of the activity column is not the main content of the textbook,teachers often neglect this part of teaching in the actual classroom teaching.Therefore,this paper starts with the activity columns of textbooks and analyzes the activity columns of textbooks by taking the compulsory geography textbook of the Human Education Edition as an example,so as to seek effective strategies to cultivate students’ geographical practical ability by using the activity columns of textbooks,and help high school geography teachers to make better use of the activity columns of textbooks in teaching,so as to continuously improve students’ geographical practical ability.Under the guidance of constructivism learning theory,Dewey’s "learning by doing" theory,multiple Intelligences theory and geography curriculum and teaching theory,this study makes an in-depth analysis of textbook activity columns,in order to seek the internal mechanism of using textbook activity columns to effectively improve high school students’ geography practical ability.On this basis,questionnaire survey is adopted for teachers and students.Through the combination of online and offline questionnaires,the current development status of textbook activity columns in geography classroom teaching in high school and students’ geographical practical ability are investigated.Through statistical analysis of the survey results,the main conclusions of students’ questionnaire are as follows:(1)Most students’ geographical practical ability is not high,and they are not clear about the requirements of the new curriculum standards on geographical practical ability;(2)Most students are interested in the activity column of the textbook;(3)The difficulty of teaching material activity column is moderate,carrying out teaching material activity column is conducive to the improvement of performance;(4)At present,the learning methods of activity columns in textbooks are still traditional.The main conclusions of the questionnaire are as follows:(1)Teachers have not really implemented the cultivation of geographical practical ability in actual teaching,and have insufficient understanding of the core quality of geographical practical ability;(2)Teachers think that the activity columns of teaching materials are reasonable and have diverse values;(3)The teaching mode of activity columns of textbooks is still dominated by teachers;(4)Teachers believe that carrying out activities in textbooks is conducive to improving students’ geographical practice ability.Based on the above research and problems,this paper puts forward four teaching strategies to cultivate students’ practical ability of geography based on activity columns of textbooks:(1)change teachers’ traditional teaching concepts and establish correct activity teaching concepts;(2)Carefully prepare for the activities to be carried out and avoid becoming a mere formality;(3)Select effective teaching strategies to improve students’ geographical practical ability according to different characteristics of activity types;(4)Attach importance to the effect of activities and control the frequency and difficulty of activities.As for the teaching strategy obtained,this paper selects the content of the fifth chapter "Soil" of Compulsory Geography I of the Human Education Edition to carry out the teaching design by studying the textbook,and integrates the strategy and theory used in this paper into the teaching design for teachers’ reference.As an important material to cultivate students’ geographical practice ability,the activity column of textbook needs to be enriched and improved continuously in the concrete classroom teaching process,so as to better play its role.I hope this article can help teachers in teaching.
