At present,the measurement standard for students in China is still mainly based on academic performance.Family is the earliest educational environment for children,which has played a profound role in the development of children’s lives.This is the independent variable of the term under study is family socio-economic status,which mainly includes the education level of parents,occupation type and family income;The dependent variable is junior high school students’ academic performance,which is examined through the standardized scores of final three subjects including Chinese,mathematics and English;The mediating variable is parental rearing style.It mainly discusses the relationship among family socioeconomic status,junior middle school students’ academic performance and parental rearing style.A total of 1320 questionnaires were collected from two schools in urban and rural Hunan.Through SPSS23.0 data analysis,to understand the basic information and family situation of the subjects.Through the difference of demographic variables,correlation analysis and intermediary effect,the relationship between the three was analyzed.The results show as below:(1)There are significant differences in parental rearing patterns in gender,grade,and place of origin.(2)There is a significant positive correlation between family socio-economic status and junior middle school students’ academic performance and parental rearing style.Family socio-economic status and parental rearing style have a positive predictive effect on junior middle school students’ academic performance.(3)Parenting style plays a partial intermediary role between family socio-economic status and junior middle school students’ academic achievement.That is,family socioeconomic status affects junior middle school students’ academic performance through parental rearing.Based on the above results,it is suggested to improve academic performance through the following ways:(1)Parents should improve themselves and formulate measures to improve their children’s academic performance.(2)Parents should adopt more positive educational methods to give their children more warmth and understanding.(3)Parents should improve their children’s physical and mental development(4)Parents should establish a correct educational concept and create a harmonious family atmosphere.(5)Parents should treat their children’s academic achievements correctly and give praise and encouragement in due course.
