Secondary vocational education is an important part of our country’s education system and building a team of head teachers with high ideological level and strong professional quality in secondary vocational schools is of great significance to the development of secondary vocational education.Based on the theoretical basis of "competency theory","teacher professional development theory" and "driving force theory",and integrated the existing research results,this research constructed the professional literacy model of the head teacher in secondary vocational school from three dimensions: professional knowledge,professional ability and professional spirit.The research adopted the method of literature research,questionnaire survey and interview survey.Through the questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews with some head teachers of 5 secondary vocational schools in Hunan Province,we understood the relevant situation of the professional quality of the head teachers in secondary vocational schools,found out the problems,analyzed the reasons,and provided suggestions.The research results showed that there are certain problems in the professional quality of head teachers in secondary vocational schools.Firstly,in terms of professional knowledge,some head teachers of secondary vocational schools are relatively lacking in knowledge of educational psychology,vocational guidance,and education for special students;secondly,in terms of professional competence,some head teachers in secondary vocational schools need to be improved in their ability to organize class activities,education and scientific research,career guidance,and emergency handling;thirdly,in terms of professional spiritual quality,some secondary vocational school head teachers need to further strengthen their awareness of democratic equality,willingness to improve,and professional identity.Based on the above problems,the research explored the causes of the problems from three aspects: the head teachers themselves,the policy system,and school management,so as to propose an optimization strategy for the professional quality of the head teachers in secondary vocational schools.First of all,the head teachers should change the concept and improve professional knowledge;broaden professional ability actively;establish ideals and enhance professional spirit.Secondly,relevant departments should establish and improve policy and institutional systems such as the professional standards for head teachers in secondary vocational schools,the incentive system for head teachers in secondary vocational schools,and the multi-level and three-dimensional training system for secondary vocational schools.Thirdly,relevant schools should optimize management,define the work content of head teachers reasonably,improve the evaluation mechanism of head teachers,and implement the welfare benefits of head teachers.
