With the promulgation of the new standard for high school Chinese curriculum and the reform of the assessment scheme of Chinese Language Subject in the Chinese National College Entrance Examination(NCEE),improving the reading ability and level of high school students has become particularly important.Extracurricular reading is an important influencing factor to promote the improvement of high school students’ Chinese language learning,expression and writing,aesthetic appreciation,etc.Therefore,this article focuses on the extracurricular reading status quo of the first high school in PS city,explores the strategies to change the current dilemma of extracurricular reading in high school Chinese,and helps to promote the comprehensive development of students’ core literacy in Chinese language.The article is structured into four sections.The introduction presents the research background,main research questions,theoretical and practical significance,domestic and foreign research status,and research methods.In the second part,a questionnaire survey was conducted on the extracurricular reading interests,contents,habits,and frequency of students in the first high school in PS city,as well as a questionnaire survey on the extracurricular reading guidance activities,reading recommendations,methods and supervision,reflection and evaluation of Chinese language teachers in the first high school in PS city.In the third part,the extracurricular reading enthusiasm and purpose,frequency and quantity,content and quality,habits and abilities of high school students are analyzed,and the problems and causes that exist during extracurricular reading are deeply analyzed.It summarizes the advantages of Chinese language teachers in the first high school in PS city in extracurricular reading guidance,such as respecting the students’ subjective position in extracurricular reading activities,actively encouraging students to read,and giving full play to the role model power of teachers’ reading,while also focusing on the shortcomings in reading guidance.In the fourth part,strategies to improve the current extracurricular reading status quo in high school Chinese are proposed,including stimulating students’ reading interest and expectations,guiding students to select suitable extracurricular reading materials,conducting various forms of extracurricular reading classes,cultivating good reading habits and methods,ensuring efficient extracurricular reading processes,and holding diverse extracurricular reading activities.
