The first International Online Education Summit held in Beijing in 2013 indicated that China’s online education industry has entered a new stage of development and realizing that Internet technology and education interpenetrate and develop simultaneously.Fortunately, learning and teaching have both made significant breakthroughs and innovations over the past5 years, and Chinese people have become more and more receptive to this method of learning.Based on a very clear prospect and development space, online education institutions have become the main focus for investment, capital is pouring in,however, only a few firms are making a profit.Based on this background, this paper makes a theoretical analysis and literature review on the business model of the online education industry, and analyzed the top online vocational training education institutions. This paper also summarizes the existing problems in the business model of online education institutions in China, and argues that online education is not simply about putting courses on the internet, and that the business model of online education should be devoted to providing comprehensive industry chain services instead of providing simply courses.Additionally, this paper argues that these institutions cease being course contractors and move forward towards being education service providers.Furthermore, this paper designs a new industrial chain business model for online training, aimed at continuing education for the professionals in Hunan province. It is hoped that the supply-side reform of online education can be realized through such business model design,to create a competitive education product, resulting in sustained investment and profitability.Lastly,it provides experiences and references for future online education enterprises to design business models.
