A Study On The Spiritual Care Of Senior Intellectual Elders In Social Work Intervention In Aged Care Institutions

Spiritual care is an important part of elderly care service.The elderly lack of enough spiritual care,often produce loneliness,emptiness,depression and other negative emotions,serious harm to the health of the elderly and normal life.This study takes senior intellectual elders in J Apartment for the Elderly in Nanjing City as the research object.Through the questionnaire survey,it understands the spiritual care status and needs of senior intellectual elders,and then uses the professional methods of social work to intervene.On this basis,it reflects on the intervention of social work in the spiritual care of senior intellectual elders.The study found that the mental care of the elderly in this institution is insufficient,mainly focusing on the elderly education,psychological counseling,social participation and other aspects,which include the outdated concept and rigid form of the education for the elderly,the lack of personalized sports and sports activities,the lack of psychological counseling,and the lack of social participation for the elderly.The reasons lie in the low attention paid by pension institutions to spiritual care,the limited financial support in mental care and the lack of professional ability of workers in the institutions.Eight senior intellectual elders recruited for this study as the service object,using the team work pattern in apartment go-getters elderly mental care,in combination with the practical situation of the service object,starting from the mental care for specific needs,in order to carry out the broken ice,implementation and completion of three stages,total six group activities,each activity is involved in different areas of the subject,various forms,rich in content.Event planners and leader is mainly composed of members of their own,social workers in the activity only play a role of assistance,control and regulate atmosphere,team members subjective initiative into full play,make team members into the group,to enrich themselves,to serve others,reflect the principles of social work helping team,team spirit care demand.Results evaluated at the end of the team,found that the service object of spiritual care situation got improved,get rich cultural entertainment life,social network extension,interpersonal skills,to cultivate a new hobby and life skills,basic implementation team work target,achieved good effect of intervention.The research shows that the reciprocity model in group work can effectively meet the spiritual care needs of the elderly with high knowledge and improve the quality of life of the elderly with high knowledge.The use of professional social work methods to intervene in the spiritual care of the educated elderly has certain advantages,such as exploring the potential of the educated elderly and respecting the choices of the educated elderly,but at the same time,there are also certain shortcomings,such as insufficient personalized attention to team members and insufficient workers’ rights.In addition,attention should be paid to the ethical issues in the process of intervention,such as the treatment of multiple relationships,the consideration of the interests of different service objects,the distribution of the rights between service objects and workers,the choice of correct practices and the scientific nature of the selection of service objects.Therefore,social workers should make good use of role skills and adjust their roles in time in group work.
