With the advance of China’s reform and opening up and urbanization process, the number of floating population is growing rapidly. The National New Urbanization Plan(2014-2020)clearly points out that in the process of China’s rapid urbanization development,a large number of rural migrant population faces the problem of difficult integration into cities due to the uneliminated urban-rural gap.As a special group of floating population, migrant children can enjoy the high-quality urban resources under the background of the continuous improvement of the long-distance education policy, but they often encounter various pressures and adversities when they come to a strange environment with their parents and integrate into the urban life.Peer support is an important part of the social support network of migrant children. The improvement of communication ability plays an irreplaceable role in improving migrant children’s peer support and promoting social integration. However, due to the lack of relevant guidance, the low level of peer communication is a common phenomenon among migrant children.Especially in the process of communicating with urban children of the same age, there are problems such as lack of self-confidence,lack of enthusiasm, lack of social skills, and deviation of attitudes and subjective cognition in social communication, which makes them in the realistic dilemma of communicating with urban children. Therefore, this paper aims to improve the peer communication ability of migrant children.Based on the existing services for migrant children in internship institutions, this paper provides a platform for migrant children to communicate with urban children of the same age.By recruiting migrant children and urban children aged 7-12 in Z Village and Y community of Qingdao as service objects,it comprehensively applies social learning theory and cognitive behavioral theory. The group members were helped to carry out seven stage group activities from four aspects of social initiative, verbal and non-verbal expression ability, overcoming social and psychological barriers, and prosocial behavior to improve their peer communication ability. The results of the activities were evaluated and summarized through questionnaire survey. The scores of group activities in the four dimensions of peer communication ability(including social initiative, verbal and non-verbal expression ability, overcoming social psychological barriers, and prosocial behavior)of the intervening migrant children were significantly increased, and the mean scores before and after measurement were significantly different, indicating that the intervention activities were effective. Finally, the paper puts forward optimization suggestions on the intervention effect of the group to improve the peer communication ability,so as to provide practical reference experience for the group work to improve the social communication level of floating children,so as to effectively solve the communication difficulties between floating children and urban children.
