“The 14 th National Five-Year Plan” aims to build a high-quality education system,of which college teaching is one important component and key to achieving this goal.Table tennis is one of Physical Education courses favoured by college students.In order to better enhance students’ interest and skills in table tennis,and to improve students’ overall abilities,this paper investigates the integration of the experiential teaching model into college table tennis general courses based on the constructivism theory as its basic theoretical framework.The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of the experiential teaching model in developing students’ table tennis skills,in increasing students’ interest in learning table tennis and in improving the effectiveness of table tennis teaching at colleges and universities,and to provide a reference for the promotion and popularization of the experiential teaching model.This study was conducted through such scientific methods as literature,questionnaire,expert interview,teaching experiment and mathematical statistics.The object of this study is the experimental application of experiential teaching mode in table tennis general course at Guangzhou Sport University,and the experimental subjects are the Physical Education majors of Class 4 and Class 7 at Grade 2022.Before the experiment,a survey was carried out to prove the absence of significant differences between the experimental group and the control group.The experiment was conducted for eight weeks of 32 teaching hours,during which experiential teaching mode was employed in the experimental class and a conventional teaching mode in the control class.The following conclusions were drawn.(1)The use of experiential teaching mode does not promote the physical fitness of Physical Education majors and has not yet achieved the purpose of improving students’ physical fitness.(2)The experiential teaching mode guided by the theory of Constructivism has an obvious effect on the mastery of basic table tennis skills by physical education majors,and can effectively improve students’ table tennis skills and develop independent learning ability and problem awareness.The experiential teaching mode is superior to the conventional teaching mode in terms of improving table tennis standard skills achievement and enhancing the standardization of technical movements.(3)By adopting the experiential teaching mode,students’ mastery of theoretical knowledge related to table tennis can be significantly enhanced in table tennis teaching.The experiential teaching mode allows the students in the experimental class to have a deeper understanding of the history of table tennis,the rules of the sport and the umpiring law,which can lay a solid theoretical foundation for their future work in table tennis.(4)Under the guidance of constructivism theory,the use of experiential teaching mode can effectively increase the interest and motivation of Physical Education majors in table tennis,which has a strong driving force for the learning of table tennis.By creating interesting learning situations and allowing students to play different roles in table tennis,the experiential teaching model can better stimulate students’ interest in learning.Compared to the conventional teaching model,the experiential teaching model is more favoured by students and they have better satisfaction with it,which shows that the experiential teaching model is feasible.
