Employment is the foundation of people’s livelihood.The report of the20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China emphasizes "implementing the employment priority strategy and strengthening the employment priority policy".According to statistics,in 2021,the total number of migrant workers in China reached 290 million,of which the new generation of migrant workers accounted for more than 48% of the total number of migrant workers nationwide.The new generation of migrant workers has gradually become the main body of migrant workers in China.However,a large number of studies have found that due to imperfect labor market mechanisms,impeded employment information channels,and the overall low skill level of the new generation of migrant workers,the overall employment quality of the new generation of migrant workers is low,and there are characteristics such as internal unbalanced development and regional differences.Therefore,studying the impact mechanism of social networks on employment quality is conducive to improving the employment support system for migrant workers,promoting the implementation of the employment priority strategy,and improving the employment quality of the new generation of migrant workers.This paper takes the new generation of migrant workers as the research object,constructs a theoretical analysis framework based on social network theory and job search theory,and discusses the mechanism of social network,job search strategy and technical level on employment quality.Through field investigation in Guiyang,Anshun and Zunyi,Guizhou Province,a total of 278 valid questionnaires were obtained,and the structural equation model was used to empirically test the mechanism of social network affecting the employment quality of the new generation of migrant workers.The findings are as follows:(1)The social network of the new generation of migrant workers significantly affects their objective employment quality,but not their subjective employment quality;(2)Social network can not only directly affect the objective employment quality,but also indirectly affect the objective employment quality through job search strategy,and the job search strategy plays a partial mediating role in the influence of social network on the objective employment quality;(3)Technical level plays a negative moderating role in the influence of social network on employment quality,that is,when the new generation of migrant workers with higher technical level find employment through social network,their employment quality will be reduced,and the social network mainly promotes the new generation of migrant workers with lower technical level.Accordingly,this paper puts forward the following suggestions:(1)improve the heterogeneity and top level of the social network of the new generation of migrant workers with lower technological levels,and expand their network scale;(2)Accelerate the flow of recruitment information to lay the foundation for the new generation of migrant workers to optimize their job search strategies;(3)Strengthen technical training and vocational education for the new generation of migrant workers with higher technical levels.
