The Chinese people have a profound and long-standing cultural tradition,and the classical works of ancient poetry are all songs of the author’s life.The beauty of life and nature embedded in the natural imagery in ancient poetry helps to inculcate the spiritual world of students.Flowers,trees,insects,fish,birds and animals are all full of life.Studying these natural images helps students to perceive life imagery and gain life experiences.There are still many shortcomings in the teaching of natural imagery in junior secondary school,and there is a lack of new teaching paths.The study explores strategies to improve the teaching of natural imagery in junior secondary school in the context of life aesthetics,in an attempt to provide valuable references for relevant teaching changes.First,the theoretical construction is carried out in four aspects: theoretical foundations,the relationship between life aesthetics and nature,the relationship between nature imagery and ancient poetry teaching,and the relationship between life aesthetics and ancient poetry teaching.The textual content of the textbook is used to interpret the natural imagery of ancient poetry in junior high school,and in conjunction with life aesthetics and imagery theory,the meaning of natural imagery in junior high school ancient poetry and the ways of combining natural imagery and writing techniques in ancient poetry are uncovered.Secondly,the current situation of teaching natural imagery in middle school ancient poetry is investigated and analysed.The researcher explores the reading experience of natural imagery in ancient poetry for junior high school students in four dimensions: learning about natural imagery,cognition,attention and interest.It also analyses the teaching situation of natural imagery in ancient poetry in junior high school in four dimensions: cognition,teaching style,teaching content and teaching input,and then combines it with the teacher interview survey.The current situation of teaching nature imagery in junior high school was found out:junior high school students’ reading experience of nature imagery is poor,their cognition is biased,their attention to natural life awareness is not high,and their interest in learning is not strong;teachers’ knowledge of teaching nature imagery in junior high school is insufficient,their choice of teaching methods is not flexible enough,their teaching contents lack richness,and their teaching input is The teachers’ knowledge of natural imagery is insufficient,their teaching methods are not flexible enough,their teaching contents are not rich enough,and their teaching commitment is not sufficient.In summary,the teaching and learning of ancient poetry does not fully exploit the rich connotations and nurturing value of natural imagery in ancient poetry.The root causes of these deficiencies include: students’ lack of integration of their knowledge of imagery with their individual life experiences;students’ lack of in-depth nature awareness due to their distance from nature in their daily lives;teaching and learning that neglects the deeper exploration of the life value of ancient poetry;teaching and learning that does not adequately highlight the aesthetic function of ancient poetry;and teachers’ cultural literacy and teaching concepts that need to be transformed.Finally,based on the understanding of the aesthetics of life,natural imagery in ancient poetry and the analysis of the current situation,we propose two improvement strategies in terms of the principles of life-enhancing teaching and teaching construction: the teaching principles of practising the concept of the new curriculum;following the psychological needs of students;and improving the theoretical quality of teachers.The teaching of natural imagery in ancient poetry is activated by tracing the origin of natural imagery,exploring the imagery and thinking about the imagery;the perception of natural imagery in ancient poetry is mobilised by establishing the imagery,entering into the world and understanding the emotions;the perception of natural imagery in ancient poetry is facilitated by ironic recitation and chanting,integration and induction,and self-understanding.The study concludes that natural imagery in ancient poetry is closely related to the aesthetics of life,and that using natural imagery in ancient poetry as an entry point can provide a deeper understanding of the value of life,and through the construction of life-based teaching,students can better develop their perception and appreciation of nature,broaden their horizons of life,and enhance their own life experience and cultural cultivation.
