Literacy is an important part of primary school students’ Chinese learning. In traditional teaching, literacy teaching relies more on the teaching of teachers in the classroom, supplemented by a certain amount of homework after class to consolidate. However, the "double reduction" policy in 2021 has reduced the time for homework after class,so how to efficiently read in the classroom has become an urgent problem for frontline teachers to solve. In order to explore how to improve students’ classroom literacy efficiency, this study applies Wittgenstein’s language game theory to primary school Chinese literacy teaching.Taking the content of the fourth grade Chinese textbook as an example, the experimental class is selected and divided into two stages:pre test and post test for experimental teaching research. Finally, test scores and survey questionnaire data from the pre test and post test stages are collected, and statistical analysis is conducted on this data,It was found that students’ accuracy in recognizing and reading Chinese characters increased by 17.7%,their accuracy in writing Chinese characters increased by 16.9%,and their accuracy in distinguishing similar characters increased by 15.4%.This indicates that the implementation of language game literacy teaching in primary school students is feasible and effective.Meanwhile,it has been found in practice that language games can stimulate students’enthusiasm for literacy, and most students have improved their learning efficiency. However, for students with poor foundation, there are also some disadvantages in the teaching process.During the activity process, the differences among students make it easy for students with lower proficiency to suffer from a blow to their confidence. On the other hand,in the process of learning new words through language games, the volume detection found that the scribbling of most students had not changed. Moreover, due to the age characteristics of students, there are also certain problems with classroom discipline, which are all areas that need improvement.
