With the rapid development of modern information technology,the ability of data analysis is one of the necessary abilities of every citizen has.In the 2022 edition of Compulsory Education Mathematics Curriculum Standards,it is clearly pointed out that data concept is one of the nine core qualities of mathematics in junior middle school,meanwhile,the data analysis ability is an essential ability for data concept.Therefore,it can be seen that one or particularly a junior high school student having data analysis ability is of great significance.Based on Mathematics Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)and SOLO classification theory,this study mainly investigates the current level of students’ data analysis ability by constructing assessment elements and evaluation system for the current situation of data analysis ability,and preparing test questions and students questionnaires.It aims to solve the following three problems:(1)What is the current situation of junior high school students’ data analysis ability?(2)What are the factors affecting junior high school students’ data analysis ability?(3)What are the strategies to improve junior high school students’ data analysis ability?This study refers to a total of 403 students from two junior high schools in Z County,Pingliang City,Gansu Province who were selected as research objects.Whats more,these methods such as Literature method,testing method and questionnaire method were applied in this study to investigate the current situation and influencing factors of junior high school students’ data analysis ability,and finally improvement strategies are put forward according to the research results.Through the processing and analysis of the test volume data,the following conclusions about the current level of junior high school students’ data analysis ability are drawn:(1)the data analysis ability of junior high school students presents a trend of normal distribution,and their ability is generally weak,even at the lower average level;(2)In terms of each dimension,students’ ability to sort out data in a whole is high,their ability to collect and describe data is average,and their ability to analyze data and apply probability is relatively poor;(3)The data analysis ability of junior high school students in different grades and schools has a significant difference,but the data analysis ability of male and female students has no distinct difference.By processing and analyzing the questionnaire data and combining with the test results,it can be seen that the influencing factors of junior high school students’ data analysis ability include students’ emotional attitude,learning style,application status of knowledge and views on teachers’ teaching style,among which the main influencing factors are students’ emotional attitude and learning style.And it is found that students have the following weaknesses in learning:(1)Learning interest and enthusiasm are not high;(2)Lack of understanding of the importance of knowledge;(3)Lack of understanding of their own abilities;(4)Poor habit of preview before class;(5)Rarely review and reflect after class;(6)Insufficient application of knowledge.Based on this study,following suggestions are provided from four aspects: students,teachers,schools and families.Suggestions to students themselves:(1)actively participate in practical activities to improve their interest in learning;(2)Reasonably arrange their learning time,and explore their own learning style;(3)Change the understanding of data analysis and establish correct mathematical concepts.Suggestions to teachers:(1)Focus on setting the question contexts about daily life;(2)Pay attention to students’ personal experience in practical activities;(3)Pay attention to individual differences and teach students according to their aptitude;(4)Pay attention to the rational use of information technology.Schools are advised to :(1)Strengthen inter-school exchanges;(2)Implement more extracurricular practical activities.Suggestions to parents: let students try to solve more data analysis problems in their life.
