With the continuous growth of human life expectancy, the aging population is increasing, and the issue of aging is becoming increasingly prominent.Among the relevant measures to address the issue of aging, the extensive development of physical exercise activities for the elderly has become an important part of the elderly health support system.Actively guiding the elderly to participate in physical exercise activities is conducive to obtaining and maintaining a healthy physical and mental state, plays an important regulatory role in the process of active aging, and is a strong guarantee for promoting "Healthy China 2030".At present, the elderly in China are highly motivated to participate in sports and fitness activities, with a strong sense of active aging, and the national happiness index is increasing year by year.In the research area(western China)involved in this project, brisk walking, tai chi boxing, and square dancing are the most popular forms of physical exercise for the elderly.Among them,as a square dance with western characteristics,Guozhuang Dance has a lively rhythm and rich repertoire, which is deeply welcomed by the elderly and has a large number of participants, forming a unique fitness culture. The purpose of this study is to study the fitness efficacy of Guozhuang dance.Taking the empirical study of Guozhuang dance’s intervention in the health of elderly people in northwest China as the research object,we selected elderly people who participated in Guozhuang dance exercise in Lanzhou City to conduct research. We used sports biomechanics methods to analyze the movement characteristics of Guozhuang dance, used sports performance systems to analyze their sports load characteristics, and used physical fitness tests and questionnaire surveys to assess their physical health An analysis of mental health and social adaptability is conducted with a view to scientifically evaluating the health benefits that the elderly can achieve during participating in Guozhuang dance exercises, and providing theoretical support for promoting their participation in Guozhuang dance fitness activities. The main conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)Guozhuang Dance movements show significant movements of the shoulder and elbow joints of the upper limb, including extensive flexion and extension, circular rotation, internal rotation, and external rotation;Although Guozhuang dance has the characteristic of everyone dancing together in a circle,it takes more time to exercise in the central plains. The forms of lower limb movements are mainly stepping and shaking knees, and the range of motion of the hips, knees, and ankles is relatively small;Guozhuang dance emphasizes the coordination of the upper and lower limbs, more movements with the same hand and foot, less difficult movements, easy to learn, and more suitable for elderly people to exercise.(2)The metabolic equivalent of Guozhuang dance is 4.79 MET,belonging to the form of moderate exercise intensity.Participating in Guozhuang dance exercise can generate effective stimulation for the elderly’s body, which has a positive significance in reducing the risk of falls in the elderly and promoting the improvement of their health level. In particular,it helps to improve the dynamic balance ability of the elderly’s limbs, and enhance the smoothness and coordination of their movements. In the study of the health impact of long-term participation in Guozhuang dance exercise on the elderly,it was found that appropriate exercise load and diversified movement changes can have a good impact on muscle strength and cardiopulmonary endurance of the elderly, achieving the goal of overall exercise. At the same time, elderly people who participate in Guozhuang dance exercises for a long time have good exercise motivation,a strong sense of participation, acquisition of movement learning, and subjective well-being.Long-term exercise is conducive to eliminating and reducing negative emotions, and is beneficial to physical and mental health development.
