There are 85 million disabled people in China, involving 280 million families, accounting for 6.34% of the total population, and an average of one person in 16 people has a disability.Due to physical and psychological deficiencies, the overall employability of persons with disabilities in a competitive employment environment is relatively low, which is a major factor limiting the level and quality of employment of persons with disabilities. At present, there are obvious drawbacks to relying only on government departments such as the Disabled Persons’ Federation or community neighborhood offices to achieve employment of disabled persons, and social work can make up for the shortcomings of both in promoting the employment of disabled persons.Social work can fully provide suitable vocational rehabilitation programs for the service recipients according to the actual situation and needs of the service recipients, help the disabled achieve employment skills improvement, and provide a good foundation for the disabled to achieve employment in competitive places. In this study, taking a blind person in village C as an example, the social worker learned about his basic family situation and the client’s personal situation through case counseling, and found that the client had a strong desire to work, but insufficient employment confidence, lack of employment skills, and single access to employment information inhibited the possibility of service clients to achieve employment in a competitive environment. In order to effectively improve the employability of service recipients, the social worker help them acquire employment skills, enhance employment confidence, broaden employment channels, and realize the improvement of employability through pre-employment consultation and assessment, vocational training and employment guidance,so as to truly "help others help themselves" and realize personal social value.Pre-employment counseling is to help clients solve some pre-employment confusion. At the same time, through career assessment activities,it is used to diagnose, guide and predict the career development possibilities of clients, and provide a basis for scientific training and the formulation of vocational rehabilitation plans.Under the vocational rehabilitation program, vocational training is provided to enable clients to acquire basic knowledge and skills related to a specific occupation and thus adapt to the requirements of occupational activities. At the same time, psychological counseling is also provided to the client,so that the client can build confidence in employment. Finally, employment guidance is provided to provide relevant information about the labour market according to the situation and needs of the client,to prepare the client for subsequent employment, and,if necessary,to provide continuous follow-up services for the problems of disabled persons in the occupational field.Through this series of personalized professional services,we ultimately help people with disabilities to achieve employment. The study found that in order to promote the employment of persons with disabilities,we should not only improve the employability of persons with disabilities, but also pay attention to promoting the diversification of employment support service subjects for persons with disabilities, accurately matching the needs of service targets and employers, and promoting the combination of multiple service models and intervention methods.
