With the continuous development of modern society, the society’s demand for comprehensive talents is increasing, and this demand keeps pushing the deepening of mathematics education reform.six core literacies of mathematics subject are proposed for the first time in the 2017 curriculum. As the first of the six core literacies in mathematics, although the current research on them gradually tends to be diversified, the development of students’ cognition, thinking and ability in ethnic regions, which are influenced by geographic environment, transportation and economy, also has its own characteristics. What is the level of students’ abstract literacy in these regions and how do teachers perceive and implement it?To address these questions, this study selects sophomore students in Dali as the target population and conducts a research on abstract literacy in mathematics.Secondly, character and values are one of the components of mathematical core literacy, and students’ good character and values have a positive effect on the development of mathematical abstract literacy,so we designed a questionnaire for students to understand the character and values of sophomore students in Dali. Finally,a teacher questionnaire was designed to find out the knowledge and implementation of mathematical abstraction literacy among high school mathematics teachers in Dali. The following conclusions were obtained from the study:(1)The overall level of mathematical abstraction literacy of sophomore students in Dali is high, and the specific performance of students in each cognitive dimension is: conceptual analysis is better, linguistic expression is second, and methodological generalization needs to be further improved.(2)The overall performance of Dali sophomore students in character and values was also relatively good, and the specific performance of students in each dimension was the best in mathematical values, the second best in mathematical thinking and learning to learn mathematics, and the further improvement in mathematical learning attitude.(3)There is a positive correlation between the level of mathematical abstraction literacy and students’ usual performance in mathematics, character and values in sophomore high school students in Dali region;there is no significant difference between the level of mathematical abstraction literacy of students of different genders.(4)The awareness and implementation of mathematical abstract literacy among high school mathematics teachers in the Dali region were generally good. However, there are still some problems: some teachers do not have a comprehensive understanding of mathematical abstract literacy;many teachers lack the use of information technology in classroom teaching;there are few teaching and research activities related to mathematical abstract literacy in each school;the survey results show that the school’s educational environment, teachers’ professionalism,as well as students’ mathematical learning habits and thinking character affect students’ mathematical Abstract literacy level.Based on the above findings,we suggest the following teaching suggestions from the perspectives of students, teachers and schools: pay attention to the cultivation of students’ mathematical character and values;teachers should strengthen their understanding of mathematical abstract literacy and clarify the requirements for cultivating mathematical abstract literacy;combine local culture and fully explore teaching materials;guide students to pay attention to the accumulation and application of mathematical ideas and methods;further cultivate students’ mathematical language expression skills;fully integrate information technology into classroom teaching;and fully integrate information technology into classroom teaching. The school should be committed to building a platform for teachers to grow and promote their understanding and implementation of core literacy in mathematics. Finally,a corresponding teaching case was designed based on the above teaching suggestions. |
