Mathematical abstraction stands first in the six core qualities.The essence of mathematics is abstraction.The development of mathematical abstraction plays a vital role in students' learning of mathematics.Considering that the students in the second year of high school are in the critical period of learning in high school,this study is devoted to studying the mathematical abstraction level of the students in the second year of high school,hoping that this study can play a good role in guiding and enlightening the mathematics teaching.The study uses many research methods includes literature analysis,investigation and interview.Firstly,by referring to relevant literatures and combining with Mitchelmore's abstract theory,mathematical abstract literacy is subdivided into four levels to construct the evaluation framework of high school students' mathematical abstract level.Secondly,referring to the new curriculum standard concept and teachers' opinions,the author subdivided the behavior performance of each level to formed the level evaluation index of this study.On this basis,corresponding questionnaires and test questions are compiled.Finally,the test results were processed with data,and individual students were randomly selected for interviews,and then relevant Suggestions were put forward.This study takes two classes of senior two in a public school in Fujian province as the objects of investigation.Through the data analysis of the investigation,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)Most students in grade two of senior high school reach the abstract level 2,some students reach the abstract level 3,and a few students reach the abstract level4;(2)There is no significant difference in mathematical abstraction level between male and female students in grade two of senior high school;(3)The abstract ability of high school students in the following aspects needs to be improved: the ability to abstract mathematical problems from specific situations,the ability to extract mathematical concepts from mathematical models,the abilityto put forward mathematical propositions and models in the process of mathematical learning,and the ability to form mathematical methods and thoughts.According to the research results and combining with pedagogical theory and relevant literature,it is suggested that teachers should pay attention to the teaching of mathematical abstract concepts,strengthen the training of mathematical sign language,and pay attention to the training of mathematical application and mathematical modeling.
