At present,left-behind children in rural areas are still an important social problem.With the development of media socialization,left-behind children in rural areas are full of curiosity about new things in the outside world and begin to use social media to chat,make friends,study,watch videos and play games,which also affects the process of individual socialization to a certain extent.As one of the important dimensions of individual socialization,the identity of left-behind children is also affected by their use of social media.This paper introduces the perspective of positive psychology,focuses on the investigation of the identity of rural left-behind children,conducts in-depth offline interviews and online participatory observation of rural left-behind children,and analyzes how social media constructs the identity mechanism of rural left-behind children and how rural left-behind children realize positive identity through the use of social media.It is found that when rural left-behind children use social media such as Yishuaishou,QQ and Kugou,their self-identity is gradually strengthened because of their inner positive qualities and positive emotions,and with the help of positive social organizations such as family members,peers and friends,so as to achieve positive identity.There is a positive relationship between the use of social media and the positive personal identity of left-behind children in rural areas."Ideal me" is the positive expectation of left-behind children,and "realistic me" is the extension of the positive.The left-behind children in rural areas enhance,strengthen and finally obtain the identity through interaction.On the other hand,there is a close relationship between the use of social media and the positive social identity of rural left-behind children.The use of social media will promote the construction of online and offline group relations,strengthen the intimacy of left-behind children,and attract the sincere emotional communication and interaction of children.At the same time,it also builds the common interests of left-behind children,attracts the deepening of peer communication,and finally promotes the network relationship to the real friendship relationship.
