Graduate education is located at the top of the national education sequence,and its quality is related to the cultivation of high-level professionals in China.High-quality innovative talents are an important force to promote local economic development and the core element of building an innovative country.The Ministry of Education issued the "Opinions on Fully Implementing the Duties of Graduate Supervisors to Cultivate Virtue" and the "Code of Conduct for the Guidance of Graduate Supervisors" pointed out that graduate supervisors are the first responsible persons for postgraduate training and play an important role in the success of graduate students.In this process,the supervisor-student relationship runs through the whole process of postgraduate cultivating,and its different states will have different impacts on the development of both supervisors and postgraduates in various aspects.This study used full-time master’s degree students and mentor groups as interviewees to obtain primary data on existing mentor-student relationships,and analyzed them using documentary,interview,and qualitative research methods.Under the guidance of grounded theory,this study used the Nvivo12 software as an auxiliary tool to gradually outline the theoretical framework of mentor-postgraduate community through three-level coding and continuous generalization.The framework includes the following three aspects:First,the analysis of the stages of the mentor-postgraduate community.This study considers the mentor-postgraduate community as a concrete manifestation of the guide-student relationship,whose formation and development need to go through four stages: initial understanding during the selection period,in-depth understanding during the trial period,behavior continuation or adjustment during the stabilization period,and selection during the final period.Second,the analysis of influencing factors,this study considers that the mentor-postgraduate community will be influenced by macro national policy documents,social ethos and public health state and academic environment in the process of formation and development stages;the intervention of meso school system,conditions and resources and discipline characteristics;and the influence of micro supervisors and graduate students’ natural attributes,attitudes and willingness and mentor authority.Third,the connotation analysis of mentor-postgraduate community,based on the coding analysis combined with the development history of the connotation of the community,the study concluded that there is a false mentoring community and a real mentoring community,and the key to distinguish the two is the value following of both mentors and students,common activities,and the emotional connection between members.The real mentor-postgraduate community,harmonious student-mentor relationship,is based on academic activities as the practical form and value pursuit as the spiritual core,and the support of non-academic activities to gain empathic experience which based on the principles of respect and equality,to realize mutual understanding and identity between mentors and graduate students.In the study of countermeasures for constructing mentor-postgraduate community,based on the theoretical framework model and theoretical structure of mentorpostgraduate community formation developed by the coding,this part mainly proposes targeted suggestions from two aspects: the factors affecting the development of the community and the elaboration of the theoretical connotation of the community.From the perspective of the influencing factors,the responses suggest deepening the macro-contextual mechanism,including promoting the promulgation of national laws and policies,attaching importance to the guidance of social community spirit and reshaping the humanistic spirit of the academic community;strengthening the meso-intervention conditions,including the effective implementation of the student-guide matching system in schools,providing the environment and conditions to support mentor-postgraduate interactions;and promoting the dialogue and communication between them on the micro level.From the elaboration of the connotation,the key mechanisms of the mentor-postgraduate community are emphasized to promote the construction of an authentic mentor-postgraduate community.Firstly,both parties should strengthen the community values and form a consensus on comprehensive personal development based on academic development;secondly,both parties should support each other’s academic and non-academic activities,increase the frequency of interaction,and promote synergy and coexistence;finally,both parties should understand and care for each other,identify and trust each other,generate positive emotional experiences,and form a community spirit.
