| The positive interpersonal relationships is an important indicator for measuring individual social adaptation and mental health.Peers are important communication objects in adolescence,and the quality of peer relationships plays a fundamental role in the cognitive and personality development of adolescents.Good peer relationships can promote middle school students to improve their learning motivation and gain a sense of support and belonging among their peers.Social mindfulness and interpersonal trust reflect individuals’ concerns and expectations for others in interpersonal communication,and Self-esteem reflects an individual’s value judgments about oneself.In interpersonal communication,it is necessary to maintain a positive and open mind,and at the same time to pursue self-worth.Only by combining the two can good interpersonal relationships be established.Therefore,this study aims to explore the impact of social mindfulness on junior middle school students’ peer relationship,and explore the role of self-esteem and interpersonal trust in the model.This study selected two middle schools in Kaifeng,Henan Province,and conducted a questionnaire survey among 1200 middle school students in three grades of middle school.The trait Social Mindfulness self-report Scale,self-esteem scale,interpersonal trust scale and peer relationship scale were used as measuring tools.After analyzing the characteristics of junior high school students’ social mindfulness,self-esteem,interpersonal trust and peer relationship,and discussing the relationship between the four.The research conclusions are as follows:(1)Junior middle school students have a higher overall level of social mindfulness and peer relationship.There were no significant differences in gender and origin of social mindfulness.There was no significant gender difference in peer relationship,and the peer relationship of urban students is significantly higher than that of rural students.(2)The self-esteem and interpersonal trust levels of junior high school students are generally above the middle level.Self-esteem of urban students is significantly higher than that of rural students,Boys have higher self-esteem than girls.There was no significant difference in interpersonal trust between gender and place of origin.(3)The social mindfulness,self-esteem and interpersonal trust of junior middle school students declined from junior one to junior two,and rose from junior three.There is a continuous downward trend in peer relationships in junior high school.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between social mindfulness,self-esteem,interpersonal trust and peer relationship.(5)Social mindfulness can positively predict interpersonal trust and peer relationship.Interpersonal trust mediates the relationship between social goodwill and peer relationships.(6)Self-esteem plays a moderating role between interpersonal trust and peer relationship.Self-esteem moderates the latter half of the path in the model.Based on the research findings,the following educational recommendations are put forward:(1)The peer relationship of junior high school students shows a declining trend,so teachers should pay attention to the peer relationship of junior high school students and encourage peer communication.In particular,we should pay attention to the problems of peer relationships in the sensitive period of the second grade and the stressful period of the third grade.(2)Social mindfulness of junior high school students can positively predict peer relationships,so school education should infiltrate social mindfulness education into daily teaching.Teachers should encourage students to take the initiative to pay attention to and protect the needs of others in interpersonal interactions(3)Improving interpersonal trust among junior high school students can promote peer relationships.Parents should spend more time with their children and build a good parent-child attachment;Schools can set up the principal’s mailbox,open a psychological assistance hotline,etc.,so that students can eliminate distrust;The whole society should create a sincere,respectful and harmonious social environment,and stimulate the social atmosphere of caring and mutual assistance in the whole society.(4)Improving self-esteem can promote peer relationships.Compared with high self-esteem groups,interpersonal trust has a more significant role in promoting peer relationships in low self-esteem groups.Therefore,teachers should teach students in accordance with their aptitude,discover the shining points of each student,and improve students’ self-esteem.In particular,it is necessary to enhance the interpersonal trust of students with low self-esteem to improve peer relationships.Parents should also give priority to encouragement,discover more of their children’s advantages,and let children accept themselves. |
