Self-esteem as the basis and core of personality, has an important influence on the mentalhealth level, having been the focus on psychological research.The psychological healtheducation to college students is an important part of higher education, and how to improvecollege students’ self-esteem has come into the educators’ perspective.The influences ofsocial support on self-esteem from scholars are not the same, but improving the level ofinterpersonal trust could make contribute to raising the level of social support has beenconfirmed by mang researches.This study aims to analyze the impact on the level ofself-esteem of college students by social support and interpersonal trust.This study adopts the social support scale designed by Professor XiaoShuiyuan,interpersonal trust scale (ITS) and self-esteem scale (SES), the questionnairesurveys were conducted among667college students from3universities in Harbin. Analyzethe characteristics and the status of the college students’ self-esteem, interpersonal trust andsocial support, explore the relationship among them, and whether interpersonal trust plays amediating role between social support and self-esteem,so to providing more valuablereference material on improving college students’ self-esteem, to promote college students’understanding of themselves, and accept themselves,while in order to improve the students’self-esteem, improve the function of social support,so as to contribute to the developmentof college students mental health.The approaches are questionnaire survey, t test, varianceanalysis, correlation analysis and regression, and all the data using SPSS17.0and EXCELprocess, the results show:1.The situation of college students’ self-esteem, social support status and interpersonaltrust are: the overall level of self-esteem is higher, the social support is higher and thelevel of interpersonal trust is low.2.The social support of college students showed significant differences in whether studentcadres or not, Party members or not;objective support: the differences only in majors;subjective support: places,single-child, Party member led to different; availability of socialsupport: gender, major, grade, single-child, student cadres, Party member can producedifferences. 3.Interpersonal trust level showed some significant differences between Science,Engineering and the Arts.4.Self-esteem of college students in single-child, student cadres and the place they comefrom have some significant differences, and the difference between grade one and gradethree is also significant.5.There were some significant positive correlations among self-esteem, interpersonal trustand social support.Interpersonal trust,the utilization of support and objective support havesignificant predictive effect on self-esteem, while, the mutual prediction of social support oninterpersonal trust is also very significant.6.Interpersonal trust exerts partly mediate effect on self-esteem and social support ofcollege students.Social support can directly affect the students’ self-esteem,and also canindirect effect on it,which by the intermediary role of interpersonal trust.
