| With the deepening of globalization,more and more attention is paid to national image in the process of international communication.On the one hand,national image is closely related to the comprehensive national strength of a country,but on the other hand,the shaping and communication of media plays a huge role in promoting the improvement of national image.The Olympic Games is the largest sports event in the world.The 32 nd Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020 was postponed for the first time due to the epidemic.Against this backdrop,the role of the media has been further amplified,taking on the important responsibility of disseminating sports information and building sports image.In this study,discourse analysis is used to make a statistical analysis of the coverage content of the Olympic Special edition of People’s Daily during the Tokyo Olympic Games from July 23 to August 9,2021.The first part of this paper mainly gives an overall overview of the research object from the perspective of news framework,and specifically expands it from three perspectives: the content,the Angle and the genre of the report,and visually displays the framework of the news report in the form of charts.The second part makes a statistical analysis of 151 news report texts from the level of words,sentence patterns and narrative perspectives,and explores the media’s fact construction in news report discourse.It also focuses on the non-discourse visual presentation of news reports--news photography,and summarizes the methods of shooting angles and fields as well as the content of photos.The third part analyzes the construction of national image according to the logic sequence of seeing the big in the small,and elaborates on the three dimensions of individual image,collective image and national image construction,analyzes the close relationship between athletes and national image,and discusses the characteristics and strategies of People’s Daily in reporting sports events and building national image.Through the statistical analysis of the relevant content,it is found that the construction of the individual image of athletes in the Tokyo Olympic Games by Chinese media focuses on the “post-00s” and “veteran” athletes,while the collective image focuses on the spirit shaping of the well-known Chinese Women’s volleyball team,the dream Diving team and other collectives.Through the self-plastic media,it comprehensively presents to the public an open,inclusive,civilized and confident image of a great power that puts people first and pay attention to the spirit of shaping,a faster,higher and stronger sports power image,and a national image of patriotism,unity and cooperation.In this process,the national image is further improved in the minds of the public.This study can be used for reference to improve the mainstream media coverage and construct our national image. |
